How was Your 'Straya Day?

[ Edited ]

EDIT: Spelt Australia wrong for Straya Day! :smileyvery-happy:

As the title says?! how was your Australia day?

I'd love to make a wager to see if yours can beat mine...

Yesterday, I woke up at 7am, as my girlfriend and I decided we were going to go down to Woy Woy waterfront and watch the bands and stuff as I had a couple of mates performing.

As I pick her up at 8am to chill, she repeats those...Oh so lovely words "we need to talk".

So we go somewhere to talk - when she tells me that now that shes starting University "Its too hard" to have a relationship. We argue for about 2 hours and before I lost the plot at the nonsense i dropped her home respectfully and then went home!

Later on - she started posting stuff on FB about me, and Friends of mine saw it and started calling me...5 minutes later they came and picked me up from my place with a bootful of alcamahol and my mates Type-R silvia with aa buuuuuuuuuuuuunch of modifications...and the number play SU55H1 (love it!)

He throws me the keys and tells us to go the closest deserted place - an industrial estate with kilometres and kilometres of unpatrolled area...It was raining and wet...this car as turbo and is manual....To say I fanged it and fun...is a complete understatement...after about 4 hours of fun there...we  headed back to his girlfriends place.

Her place has a pool that hasnt been maintained for close to about 4-5 years? And is so bad its clear....with scum on the bottom...and yabbies and other crustations in there...which is pretty awesome.

as we were having fun and drunkenly catching crustations for them to cook and eat...we spotted a diamond python...so! Me trying to immitate the late Steve Irwin struck into action...screaming plenty of CRIKEY's! as it started to get fired up....This was entertainment for hours...XD

Then! 4am I stumble home (convienantly down the street) and crash on my bed until 5am when I had to get up and get ready for work!!!

So...can yours beat that?! :smileyvery-happy:

Re: How was Your 'Straya Day?

Well my New South Wales Day was very different. I got up at 4:30 am and went to work. At 6pm I knocked off and went to see a mate who has just come back from South Africa but he wasn't home, so I watched a DVD and went to sleep.

Pool party round the sis-in-laws with a BBQ and the Hottest 100. Pretty much as it is every year.

Oh except i'd found 12 bottles of the Alcoholic Ginger Beer Home Brew i'd made a couple of years ago, was quite happy chowing through it till I noticed the mold in the bottom of the last-but-one bottle as I was drinking it. :smileysad:

Re: How was Your 'Straya Day?

I'm a bit late, but I was at the Gold Coast for my grandma's 100th birthday (born 26/1/1912)

We had a party at the nursing home she lives in, 30 people all up, which was her 2 daughters (one is my mum of course), 4 grand children (one is me of course) and 10 great grandchildren (one of which is my son) and some of her friends

It was a good day, and the nursing home got the local channel 9 Gold Coast news to turn up, mainly because her surname before she got married was Nation......."the birth of a nation" so it was on the news when they showed what happened around the Gold Coast on Australia day....I was on TV woohoo :smileytongue:

This is a pic of her, she's in a wheelchair now cuz she had a fall and broke her hip about 12 months ago (the old bones aren't as strong as they used to be) but her mind is still 100%, although it takes a few seconds for her to "compute" what you say to her.

This is a pic of the logo of my great grandfathers (grandma's dad) brewery he owned in Victoria, which along with some other brewers in the area, combined to form Carlton United Brewies...no wonder I love My VB so much

Me and my nieces could'nt stop laughing at the sign in the pool area.....poor old dears

Don't jump in if the water's brown

Happy 100th B'day Grandma

Re: How was Your 'Straya Day?

Good work Gav and Mullet!

I headed on down to Yabun at Victoria Park in Sydney - caught a few Indigenous acts - Archie Roach, Dan Sultan, Jess Mauboy.

Then headed home to the local, a few beers with the flatmates, won $50 bottle-o voucher in the meat raffle.

Got me a nice bottle of Bombay Sapphire!

Re: How was Your 'Straya Day?

Fairly quiet. Had some family round and then sat on thr front drive and watched the fireworks. Was a good way to say fairwell to my grandma who was flying back home the next day.
