So i thought that when a game sold X amount of copies its supposed to go plat? Is that correct or can the pubs just decide who and what goes plat?

I think there is more to it that that... I honestly believe it is just a marketing ploy now... there are many games that go Plat that I wouldn't imagine are hot sellers... Notice also now you have the PSP Essentials lineup... umm, what's the difference, lol..

Was just asking as i dont think ive ever seen a COD game in the plat range? No im not looking lol but just thought that was strange.

probably because if it goes plat they would need to drop the price lol, COD sells at full retail until the next title comes out haha

Yeah it does get based off sales but some publishers don't feel the need to. Pretty much all Sony distributed titles go platinum funnily enough.

COD games have gone platinum. MW2 has but not sure Blops has yet. probably will when the next COD comes around

I'd suggest it's a bit of a scam, it's almost like they have too many copies of a game left over, and it's easier to just reprint over the discs than try to sell them off normally. It's similar with alot of marketing ploys, doesn't matter what people actually pay for goods and services, so long as they believe they are "saving" heaps on full retail price - or getting a "premium" product. Having said that though, almost all platinum games are very playable..
