Homestuck is this great thing on the internet. It's pretty hard to explain, you just have to do it (SFW, I promise, although don't click the ads!). 

It looks quite meh at first, but things get pretty fantastic later on. And the characters aren't always shown as little armless sprites. Later they adopt the style of the guy in my avatar and many, many other styles. Here's an example.
