Re: girls on gaming

Actually kudos should be given to Punkskillz for showing us that Girls on gaming rock and its nice to see them owning the boys for a change and I for one support that.

I also support the fact more girls/women are gaming and being proud to say that.

But Kudos to all who supported this topic as it is and will be controversial for years to come.

Re: girls on gaming

Stoooge - I agree with you on two points mate, first of all, it DEFINITELY comes down to the parents who are buying these games for their kids. There is no way in hell my kid will be going online or playing games that aren't in her age range. I think it's terrible parenting that these games, like COD, are brought for kids that are way to young for the game, because as you said, they're not going to let their 10 yr old hang around with adults, so why let them do it online? There's so much swearing (even just in the campaign mode that has been put in by developers) going on that no wonder young kids are dropping the F bomb and C bomb all the time, and then to talk to girls the way they do, it's just uncalled for.

Most of the time I just laugh off the stuff these little kids have to say, but when it's coming from grown men who should know better, I do have to admit i've gotten fuelled by anger and handed back a few insults but it just gets to the point where it gets out of control and i know i'm better than that.

I also agree with you that there are good young teens out there, we have a few in our clan, but they shouldn't really be playing the game anyway because they are under the age restriction for the game.

I think that shops that sell these games need to take more responsibility as well. I.D (whether its school I.Ds or whatever) should be shown for games that have M or MA ratings and even parents should have to show their kids I.D's when they're buying these games for them. That would stop these young kids getting online in these games and us 'older' gamers having to put up with their immaturity.

Also thanks goes out to Ras for the kudos :smileyhappy: and agree with you on the kudo to everyone :smileyhappy:

Re: girls on gaming

Cheers for the Kudos!

I have to agree with the parenting, my mother was barely around - but I tell you what, if I EVER disrespected a female it was a metal spoon up the backside.
Kids these days are too babied, and they get whatever they want and they know it.
Not to mention a lot of parents just want them off their backs so they get them gaming consoles to keep them entertained.

When grown men say it - usually it means one thing...they're frustrated because they're not getting any.
That, or they've just got no lives.

I get what ya mean stooge. But yeah, the whole gang mentality is a problem, you get these little twerps in clans and they think they're top stuff.

I do think that it is rediculous - game shops will never limit buys - it means they're getting money! lol.
I dabble in CoD occasionally sometimes and they just ruin it for me lol.

I rarely played blops on my own, but when I did, I would always start a party up so I wouldn't have to be constantly muting the twerps lol.

i remember when Home first came out, I used it a total of TWICE because i was basicly getting sexually harrassed by dudes wanting me to 'cyber' with them. My boyfriend couldn't believe it, he watched as i logged in & was INSTANTLY surrounded by a swarm of boys.

maybe i should log in again if it's changed.

BTW i know i'm not on here as much lately but real life has gotten in the way of some of my gaming lol.

still playing though :smileyhappy:

and i can vouch for that, the last time i was on which would be well over a yr ago i saw Edgelett01 on and tried to go up and say hello but she was surrounded by lots of idiot and ill guess tweeners hounding on her, but i did manage to get a hi in

I believe you can do it within the squad menu once your in a game, last option on the bottom, you can turn it off or to squad. See if that works.

Re: girls on gaming

I just don't use my mic on COD anymore, unless i'm playing with some friends sometimes. But then when i stopped using the mic, i get guys yelling at me to put the mic on because they don't believe that i am a girl... :smileyfrustrated:

Some guys can't seem to handle being beaten by a girl sometimes... it gets pretty nasty in there sometimes! :smileyfrustrated:

I find when i play uncharted, it's completely different.

different type of gamers i suppose.

Same as when you compare COD to say... SOCOM, Flashpoint - or any game that requires more than point and shoot
