[VLR] Embassy Thread **2010 Community Award Winner**

Hello and welcome to the VLR embassy thread!

They taught me in school to always open with a joke; you see, I went there to become a wit but I'm afraid I dropped out half way through...                *tumble weed*

Now everyone is rolling in the aisles onto the boring introduction, though I'm sure things can liven up as we progress

VLR was founded in August 2008 by a small group of like minded posters from these very forums, much of the humour and banter that brought us together remains to this day. It was created as a home for us to chat openly about anything from Alan Partridge to Ziggy Stardust and arrange games with friends. We've since seen our numbers steadily increase over the years to create a friendly home for older gamers with a light hearted approach to life and gaming.

Our community is strictly for over 18's as it may feature strong language, alcohol and nudity

We are a community of mature gamers, by mature we mean 'of a certain age' this doesn't exclude us from bouts of comedic silliness. Our value are all about fair play, respect for others and sportsmanship.

We are a casual clan that mainly has fun nights amongst our members and friendlies with other clans. We have played competitive games, but this isn't our focus. Your gaming skill level is no requirement to join, our recruitment is all about personality.

We recently won the best clan award in the Community awards for 2010. We would like to thank everyone who voted, the support we received was something we are both grateful for and humbled by.

We currently live at - http://www.v-l-r.net/forum - if you would like to register please post up a little about yourself in this thread or let one of our members know, so we can approve your account

[ Edited ]

red summed it up perfectly tbh. muchos gratitude to all who voted for vlr in the community awards and also wp to all who took part in any form.

having joined vlr approx 7months ago (after roaming the opf boards for a decent period of time) i can simply say i would never want to look back. vlr isn't just a cyber/gaming community, it actually is a 'real' community where people contribute to each others' lives on a daily basis. this contribution often extends to 'real-life' assistance with........... say..........for example............ car issues..... (big shout out to del there) :smileyhappy:

dont get me wrong though, any community worth its weight moves through periods of transition and vlr is no exception. obviously there are laughs but there are also other aspects of life you would expect from a 'real' community. personally my favourite aspect of vlr life is without doubt the regular event nights which are immense without exception, thanks to the one and only jayGT5.

in summary, vlr is a haven in cyberspace made up of individuals but is also a place where members contribute and strive to form a collective unit.

..................(i'm possibly rambling so i'll leave it there for now) :smileywink:

Re: [VLR] Embassy Thread **2010 Community Award Winner**

I want to write something.....but I'm too overcome by emotion in seeing the VLR banner sitting in it's very own thread here on OPF......

right, I'm over that......

Hope this generates some more clan nights (FIFA clubs anyone?) and looking forward to getting some new peeps involved in the site (the promise of nudity must draw some curious souls in.....little do they know that a naked Lloyd awaits!)

Oh, did I just type that out loud? Meant to just think type it....best be off

p.s. Thanks to everyone who voted in the clan award and well done to the other winners
