Just hit a wall of enthusiasm...

[ Edited ]

So, now have 2 characters (nearly) to level 30, 3 tier1 armour pieces on my primary character and the game is a lot of fun to play...

...that was until the 30 day anniversary of the game upon which 90% of the server (crossfire) population appears to have disappeared.  Now, the cities appear to have been abandoned and even the watchtower is somewhat quiet...

This has left me feeling that the game has become very stale as there is no reason to leave the watchtower itself other than for the daily challenges, and having completed all duos, alerts and raids several times the endgame is getting very old fast playing with the same groups and tactics over and over.  Heck, my friends and I have even beaten some duos in less than 10 minutes so they feel more like routine than fun.

A lot of the fun before, during the 1-30 stretch, was the thrill of doing missions with the constant threat of attack but as endgame is all instance based everyone appears to have vanished.  Also, as the game has none of the exploration components of other mmo's such as WoW and FFXI, the overworld has lost any and all of its identity.

Added to the fact that the so-called 'monthly' content is now overdue my enthusiasm for the game has plummeted.  Am I the only one feeling this way?

I so want to continue to love this game but the small scale of the game world has embedded itself in my mind and my motivation has disappeared, especially at the premium price charged to play from now on :smileysad:

If Villains bully low level Heros or camp building exits for kills, then they are scum (Villains by nature).
But, if Heros kill low level Villains and attack on sight, then they are serving out justice (Heros by nature).
Whichever way you look at it, they are playing the role they signed up for...

Re: Just hit a wall of enthusiasm...

Couldn't agree more.

The EU PVP servers - there are 2 of them, regularly show medium at best - and the PVE servers are low for a lot of the time.

Playing on PVP I have definitely noticed the difference when flying around - can go for way too long hardly seeing anyone.

It may have been useful at some point, but the 2 EU PVP  servers are going to need merging soon. And this is from playing at different times through the day, regularly.

This, and the lack of new stuff to do in the open world areas ( once you reach level 30) is beginning to make this game go a bit stale for me.

And the more worrying thing, is that I can't see enough changing, regularly - to make it even worth considering renewing after the Legends offer is up. You're right, the instances (while good, but quickly repetitive) have kind of opened my eyes to the long term prospects of me playing this game. Bit sad because I wanted to play more. But enthusiasm is going.

And one last thing - these forums are getting stale too. A lot of staleness going about lately. Read the PS3 section in the official DCU forums. At least it's more regular and current. EU DCUO has been grabbed in a choke hold by Brainiac - and he ain't letting go.

Re: Just hit a wall of enthusiasm...

Official forums may be busy, but if 80% are on the US servers than it doesn't really matter to us. I'm mostly doing daily challenges at the moment so don't see many players no matter how many are online. £30+ for the disc and then a subscription cant be too appealing though.
