Ok, I bought this game today.. 

Now I have no clue what to start as.. I briefly skimmed some of the guide booklet which suggests you choose royalty?

However If everyone is doing that it will be a bit boring..no? lol

Theif class sounded oki.

I usually like healer class however this seems a hard one to start as?..

Suggestions please.. and No I have never played at all yet.

I went with royalty as per the guide. Been good so far as you have a ranged attack from the start as well as a useable sword and shield. And as it has the lowest starting level you have a bit more creative freedom

yeah i tried thief class, made 1-1 impossible as i had no ranged attack to take down all the blue eye knights...gave up after about 6 attempts and considered taking the game back

then i read some posts here and the forums and also had a read of the guide too, royalty makes the difference, stick to the guide and the royalty class for your first play through then start to get creative second time round

i did however notice some inconsistencies, like the first levelling up after 1-1, it mentions you should be at x level of x trait after levelling up x times...but you are nowhere near it, also the skills it tells you to level are not the main ones of the royalty class, am i being dumb or can someone confirm this...

I sounds familiar yes, i've just stuck with the guide to be honest and followed it as gospel. I am Royalty too and am pretty happy with it. You definately need a ranged attack in this game (Royalties soul arrow), although all of a sudden in the guide it's now telling me to use a bow in certain areas which came as a surprise. I'm having trouble now on shrine of storms second area those ***** reapers, anyone have any advice?

You can run past most of them, its the big ones you need to go for as when you kill the big one all its children die. What reaper bit in particular are you stuck on, there are different areas in the level?

I started as a Knight and world 1-1 was a breeze once i got used to the controls. I got up to the Armoured Spider and got owned cus it body slammed me.

not sure about the Knight class, but if you hug the left hand wall until you reach a bit of rubble that juts out, this is a distance that you can fire spells from and not get touched...made the fight tedious at best

I chose the temple knight, but started again and chose royalty to follow the guide if needed

@ChrisDavo The second one I think. You're in a narrow space and there was a reaper right next to one of it's spawn, they ganged up on me, gits!

And to be honest, it made the firs 3 hours of gamplay HELL.

It really doesn't matter what class you start as, you can chop and change your skills as necessary. The only thing to note is that equipment and items change depending on which class you pick.

If you're looking for an easy ride, pick Royalty.
