How are Sony fibbing? Squeenix have announced the game only for PC and PS3. That makes it a console exclusive to PS3.

Them only "considering" other hardware doesn't mean ZOMG IT'S GOING TO BE ON 360. Do I have to remind everyone of Kojima not working on a 360 port for MGS4 "right now"?

I would say there is a lot of talk behind closed doors.

SCE would be stupid to claim it as an exclusive if its not.

Its would be intersting to know what was actully said.

The other thing is everything Shinji Hashimoto has been 

translated somwthing may have been lost or add in translation

or even mistranslated.

bein a final fantasy fan myself & a PS fanboy, it would be great to see it only on PS3  when i was watching the e3 show it did sound like the guy on stage said the only place you will be able to play it on launch will be on the PS3  in the way he said that, by my understanding it might be a timed exclusive. either way it looks sweet though.

Following up on the surprise announcement of Final Fantasy XIV for PlayStation 3 and PC, Square Enix has clarified that, despite what Sony said yesterday, the upcoming MMORPG is not a PlayStation 3 console-exclusive and could very well end up on Xbox 360.

"We are considering all options at this time," Square Enix senior VP Shinji Hashimoto stated, via translator, at a press conference today. He stressed that FFXIV should not be considered a PS3 exclusive, noting that "all options" includes Microsoft hardware.

MS announced Metal Gear Rising as a 360 exclusive, and that lasted until about 10 minutes after their conference ended.

I still find it weird how the two PlayStation-exclusive franchises (to the most degree) going to the Xbox 360 are two of the most alienating to that audience. I'm sure there are a lot of Xbox gamers who owned a PS1 or PS2 and have played an FF game before, however I don't think they're going to have a lot of success aiming to many of the community who didn't grow up with gaming and have come in now only because it's become such a big mainstream thing. The Xbox 360 I'm sure got a lot of the 20-something year-old demographic, new to gaming, liked violent games and shooters more than anything else and went for the more adult Xbox 360 because it was cheaper. This audience isn't going to care much for FF or MGS.

Some will be pleased it's gone to multiplatform, but I can't see either game being a huge success on the Xbox 360. The sort of PS3 exclusive that would sell well on the 360 would be Killzone, Resistance or maybe Motorstorm.

Would have to agree rcoll. I have about three or four friends who bought 360s on the back of Gears and Halo alone but rarely play much outside of shooters and sports. They've all said to me that they'd love to play Killzone, Uncharted and inFamous on 360 but most of them have only recently got into games and haven't even mentioned MGS4.

Then again, Mass Effect sold very well for an Xbox RPG and Fable is popular as well so it's not as if there's no market for RPGs. Maybe just not much for JRPGs ....

You can throw FallOut 3 and Oblivion into that list too. I get the feeling though that a lot of people don't play those games like traditional RPG's, because frankly they aren't traditional RPG's. FallOut 3 and Mass Effect can easily be played like shooters. I don't know if Xbox players are going to be as keen for turn-based RPG action as seen in the Final Fantasy series.
