Only 5 minutes to go, and I can't see a thread.

Normally a less popular conference, but there might be some interesting news... (aka details about the WiiU).

Yeah... guess it isn't that popular...

The WiiU doesn't look that great to me. Doesn't seem much different to the Wii, apart from the controller (speaking of controllers, won't there be too many to handle, with the main controller, the pad, the motion controllers and nunchucks).

Seems more like a Wii upgrade, than a new console.

Sony are stabbing their loyal family customers in the back - We have 3 PS3s and 3 PSPs all on the same IP address and all registered with Sony. Why can't we use them at the same time anymore?

PMSL !! i thought the same thing. The Zombie game looks to hard to play using the Wii U Gamepad? To many things to do at any one time? Nintendo had no new IP's either.

nintendo wii u just starting to be a bit silly now not really a contender for a serious gamer anymore shame since nintendo used to be the go to console experience back in the snes and 64 days.

I didn't grow up playing Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong etc. and whilst I can see that they do look great games I've never once* been inclined to go out and buy a Nintendo console. Don't know what it is but it just doesn't appeal to me. That press conference eliminated any little interest that I did have in the WiiU.

*I did once have a Gameboy Colour. But I only ever played Pokemon on it.

Have to say i had a Wii but frankly i hated its controller so i've pretty much missed out on thier games this gen round all being well though with the new console that shouldnt be an issue with it having "proper" control pad.

The problem is this is the event Nintendo should have shown us everything they have for Wii U, rather than the developers conf today. They have shown the innovation of the machine but a lot of people want to see it's horsepower, which let's be frank they aren't showing. So while the machine may be (slightly or much) more powerful than current gen they aren't really using this chance to prove it :| oh well. A bit disappointing.

I do find it funny though that any discussion about their decent conference (the Wii U teaser of 30mins) doesn't exist on the forums. I'm pretty sure there WAS a topic for it. Removed maybe? :|

Wii U is backward compat- with Wii, so you'll still be able to use the older games on the console. That will be a selling point IMO, as the Wii controllers work on Wii U as well.

Nintendo aren't going to come out poor from this machine. Reselling old controllers at full price which are now probably super cheap to manufacture is a profitable hardware venture. The machine will also likely break even if not be profitable from the get go.

I'm not really sure who they are aiming for but it seems to be their main focus is getting their core audience and existing casual gamer market to migrate to the new system without having to worry about buying new games (another smart move).
