What happens if you wait until the game is loaded before putting the camera in?

There is one point during the tutorial when the 'camera' is switched on in game. At this point you see the feed from the camera on screen and need to point it at the magic card to trigger the next stage. It shouldn't matter whether the camera is attached before you start the game or even if you wait for the game to prompt you. Apart from a short delay when attaching, you should be able to remove and reattach the camera at any point during the game without a problem.
It should work properly for official UMD versions of the game.
