Fallout 3 Blood Ties Bug..

So i decided to kill the family, Got them to attack me so i did'nt lose karma and then saved ian and convinced him to return home.

It then says return to Evan in arefu or something so i go out and kill their guard (Robert) as he is now hostile and i need to get past him.

So i start proceeding to the exit after i kill him but on the way there it says something along the lines of "The Family and the people of Arefu are now hostile to you" and then Quest Failed:Blood ties.

What am i doing wrong here?

Re: Fallout 3 Blood Ties Bug..

If you had decided on interaction and co-operation with the family you would have eventually completed blood ties, the whole point of which was to try and get the family to stop attacking Arefu.

a little more diplomacy would have resulted in them offering protection to Arefu in return for a regular supply of blood, you also would have earned a rather handy perk.

Finding and freeing ian had nothing to do with this quest really and only gains you a little bit of favour with his sister up in Megaton.

It's like a lot of quests in fallout, you start off doing one thing and end up doing something else when you get sidetracked by side quests:smileytongue:

if you want to complete blood ties you'll have to go back to a save point before you wiped them all out:smileysad:

Re: Fallout 3 Blood Ties Bug..

But..Arefu wanted them to die! And why should i fail if i choose to kill them?

Re: Fallout 3 Blood Ties Bug..

i know it sucks and may not make any sense, but it's just the way the quest pans out i'm afraid.

If you have got a save point just before you wiped them out , go back and try diplomacy and sweet talk, it won't take long to complete and if you complete it correctly you can either sell them bloodpacks for good caps or even use them yourself with a significant health boost ( almost as good as a stimpack ):smileyhappy:
