What is your vector and/or bitmap software of choice?
For me it's gotta be Xara Designer Pro 7 (previously Xara Xtreme Pro).
I've been using it ever since Method mentioned it to me on here about 4 years ago. I've used Illustrator on many occasions but all the fundamental tools are deep in menus and the engine itself is so slow. Xara has all your fundamental tools upfront and you can use them accurately in real-time as standard. The exporting of rasetrized images is also far more dynamic. Images also have better AA and the internal DPI of the program is superior at 96DPI.
I believe it's actually, officially the fastest, most powerful vector engine available. The pro version only sets you back £150 too.
Not to badmouth it too much and of course understanding it' down to preference, but I sometimes feel Illustrator is just the industry standard cause it was their first and has a slightly better pen-tool. I also find the fetishistic obsession about .ai as an indutry standard format to be quite irritating.
You can probably tell I don't like Adobe Illustrator
, sorry Ai users. ![]()
And of course, I use Photoshop for Bitmap, but I mainly deal in vectors so don't use it much.
You?
