John Buchan - The Thirty-Nine Steps. Saw the movie centuries ago, reckoned it was about time I read the book.

Geoffrey Household - Rogue Male. In the years leading up to WWII a man goes to an unnamed European country to stalk and kill an equally unnamed dictator (who may or may not be in possession of a comical moustache). He fails to get his kill and is pursued back to England by a variety of henchmen.
It's an excellent thriller, far superior to its sequel, though sadly neglected these days.

A Shadow in Summer (The Long Price bk1) - Daniel Abraham - Main book (kindle)
Grunts - Mary Gentle - Toilet and bath book.
not sure where to head next. I have the 3rd Thomas Covenant book to read (i read the second since the last post) and I have Double Dexter downloaded and ready. Thankfully someone bought my son the latest Skulduggery ( http://www.skulduggerypleasant.co.uk/?locale=UK ) book and its tempting to take a break from the hardcore read and drop into something quick, easy and downright enjoyable.

I usually get a book on science, history and a fiction from the library every week or two. This week I'm reading Brainwashing by Kathleen Taylor which explores and science and psychology of brainwashing and separates myth from empirical fact.
On history I'm reading The Bible Unearthed by Israel Finkelstein and Neil Silberman which pits the stories of the Old Testament against what has been learned through archaeology over the last couple of centuries, Israel being the most dug up and searched archaeological site on the planet. Unsurprisingly the Good Book turns out to be a collection of folk legend, myth, propaganda and nationalism.
And lastly I'm reading Feast of Souls, part one of a fantasy series by Celia Friedman. Jolly good it is too.
