Re: Silent Hill The Film - What do you think of it?

I went to watch it with some mates the weekend it came out and i thought that it would be another game to film kind of like resident evil. look cool but thats it. but i was wrong it was a great film i realy liked it. it was just like the game with the sets, the music and the camera all of it came together realy well and ther where no realy crap one liners in like all the other game to film films. i cant wait for it to come out on dvd. going back to if it made any money i read that it the first week it came out it made some thing like £20,000,000 which is onlly a few million off what it cost to make.

Re: Silent Hill The Film - What do you think of it?

One addition, i thought the ginger women was one of the worst actresses ive ever seen in a film, just awful, there were people in the cinema cracking up when she spoke! i just found her scenes painfull! I was happy when PH ripped her skin off ( sorry if that sounded sick ) but at least we dont have to see her crappy acting again!

It cost £50 Million to make... but yeah it has gone over £50 million now anyways. That is good news, anymore is profit and plus that was only money made from the screenings... money from the DVD's is still yet to be made!
I can sense a sequel coming... :smileyvery-happy:

and I agree Nightfall, she was the worst actress, made me cringe and deserved her painful death! Least we won't see her in any Silent Hill sequel! :smileywink:

Re: Silent Hill The Film - What do you think of it?

I thought the film was good considering it's adapted from a videogame. It's quite good fun and it also stays true to the style of the game. Sean Bean was a little odd though. They've got him doing an American accent that is very unconvincing. Why couldn't he just speak in his regular accent? It's a shame because I really like Sean Bean. The lady who plays the police woman is absolutley smoking hot. I am not exagerating when I say that it's very difficult to watch the film because she is just way too much of a distraction.

There are a few moments that are perhaps a little too rediculous for some. In one scene there a lots of zombie like nurses seemingly in a trance, when the torch is switched on they go mad and start slashing each other. This scene had the cinema in hysterics. I don't think that was the directors intention though. The biggest crime of all in this film though is the ending. It is one of those ending that leaves you actually saying out loud WHAT THE F**K! It just seems a bit lazy to me.

I give this film 2.5 stars out of 5. Make that 3 if you are an avid Silent Hill fan.

Re: Silent Hill The Film - What do you think of it?

Silent Hill has been out at cinemas for a few weeks now, and not done badly by any means. I personally thought it was great... sets it up nicely for a sequel. Lets hope it gets enough money to grant a sequel.
The film was a little little confusing, particularly for people who are not familiar with the Silent Hill games. But Christophe Gans got the atmosphere spot on, feels like you are actually stepping foot into the town of Silent Hill.
The re-created monsters of Silent Hill were great particularly Pyramid head It was good he was not overused... would defeat the whole object of using him if he made too many appearances. It wasnt really scary film (like the games were) it had more of a creepy/gore feel to it.

So what are your opinions of Silent Hill, did it live up to your expectations?
Did it live up to the games? Would you welcome a sequel?
I couldnt agree more, it reminded me alot of Silent Hill 2(the atmosphere) and the whole movie was pretty good. I'll probably get it on DVD, which I heard is coming out in August. Sean Bean should have been the main character, and playing Harry Mason instead, because I think hes a great actor.

Re: Silent Hill The Film - What do you think of it?

i havent played a single second of the games and therefore know nothing about it but it does look like a mirror image of the game which is hard to find in these types of films these days.

My name's Colin :smileysad:

The nurses at the end looked to much like Michael Jackson's Thriller dance troupe.
