Re: BlazBlue Continuum Shift ~ Anyone importing?

Eh, no easy answer. Virtua Fighter and Tekken are moot. It's not as hectic as MVC2, I'll admit I don't care for that much either, but it certainl;y isn't as methodical as Street Fighter IV.

I would suggest that yes, you would like it. It's a small cast but each of them do feel very distinct ( Ragna and Jin are as close as you'll come to shoto clones and even they feel very different ).

The online element is the best of any of the fighting games, but chances are for Calamity Trigger it'll only be pro's left playing, so you will die, quickly. However you do rank up in Player Matches, just at a slower rate, which is a nice touch for those not really wanting to get hammered by people who are out purely to win, you might pick up more and still rank up.

Re: BlazBlue Continuum Shift ~ Anyone importing?

Can't wait for this to come out now, I enjoy pretty much all fighting games to a certain extent but very few end up holding my interest, SF4 was a huge shock to me as to how good it was as it kept me hooked and stopped me from playing my preordered Killzone2 (which came out a week after SF4) for months!

Re: BlazBlue Continuum Shift ~ Anyone importing?

Good news; played some peeps from America and the connection was solid, hardly any lag except from one fight ( but his connection dropped so probably a problem at his end ), so the online should still be a blast.

More good news; Makoto is amazing! Her boss version is a Dudley homage which just adds to it all.

Bad news; Boss Hazama is freakin' stupid to play against on Hell Difficulty. Let's see if people feel like commplaining about Seth after trying him on for size.

Re: BlazBlue Continuum Shift ~ Anyone importing?

I'd be all for BlazBlue but it is relatively niche. But hey, Tekken 6 is the biggest selling fighting game this generation and we saw how that turned out! Who knows.

Eurogamer have posted up a review, with a very respectable 8/10:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-08-24-blazblue-continuum-shift-review

A couple of points from the article:

"The original game's biggest flaw became apparent as soon as the three best zoning characters began dominating the tournament scene, but with revisions including Arakune's Drive now cursing after multiple hits, Nu being replaced by the less overwhelming Lambda and Rachel's considerable damage reduction meaning she now actually has to work for a win, Continuum Shift's playing field feels noticeably more level. There's also good news for Hakumen and Bang players."

Yes, Rachel's damage output has been nerfed considerably. She always required good spacing and awareness but now it feels as though there's little pay off for her. yes, she has a new screen filling super, but it's only useful with a full Silpheed guage to be honest, which considering her reliance on wind for most of her combos isn't a luxury you're going to have too often.

Lambda ( Nu's replacement ) is fine, doesn't seem quite so all-conquering as Nu did in CT.

But Arakune's still a *****, don't listen to all the cries of "he's nothing anymore"! Yes, he needs to hit with multiple bugs to begin curse, but the curse no longer wears off when he's hit, and both his DD's have had tweaks or buffs.

Bang is now a beast. Seriously. I don't know if they've just changed his hitboxes but most of his moves seem a lot better. His Steel Rain DD actually stays out even when he's hit, and his new one is a great reaction super if you're being pressured ( leaves you kind of open though ). The only thing I'd say is I find his jump-cancel of f+D to be a bit harder to do, I could do it relatively consistently in CT but not now.

Hakumen is also much improved. His new jumping C and his new 4C attack are great pokes. Seriously, that 4C is Tager's bane, what used to be his one decent matchup is now much more difficult. That and whilst most characters damage output has been reduced his has actually stayed more or less the same.

Coolio, hit me up for some player matches when you get it.

Don't know if I'll be able to get Tager up to Rank 50 for the trophies, he's not had quite enough of a buff to make him properly competitive and his 360's seem to have been scaled down worse than most other moves were from CT. Gadget Finger is quite nice but you basically need to land a sweep or a 360B first, his new <-+D is pretty meh, not as useful as it first looks.

Re: BlazBlue Continuum Shift ~ Anyone importing?

The limited edition is only £18 from Zavvi :smileysurprised: I thought it was maybe the old one at first, but no, it's the new one and the limited edition :smileytongue:

I still didn't really get into the first one so don't think I'll get it though.
