Boss(es) Guides! (In Progress)

I'm currently doing my second playthrough - and I've decided I'll write guides on each of the bosses you shall encounter :smileyhappy:

First thing - I recommend having a monster, even if not set in paradigm pack, for each of the 6 roles.

Second thing - Always remember to check Chocolina for new weapons!

Third thing - Remember you can always go backwards and just level up if you can't beat a boss, there is no temporary level cap, only the permenant 99 in each role one.

These are listed as you encounter in the Story - or side-bosses will be done later. This will be made as I progress through the game in my second playthrough too, which I'm taking rather slowly, so don't expect it all done tomorrow!

Paradox ending version of bosses, will also be covered after the main storyline bosses.

Health: How much health the boss has

Weakness: Which elements and attacks the boss is weak too

Strengths: Which elements and attacks the boss is strong against (halved damage)

Status Immunities: Which debuffs can be placed

Stagger: The requirement to stagger the boss

Gogmagog x2 -New Bodhum 003 AF-

An extremely easy fight - no need for a guide, but even so:

Use COM/RAV to stagger, switch to SEN/SEN when Swipe is about to hit, then back to COM/RAV, switching to COM/COM when he is staggered. You may need to use a potion or two.

Health: 4200

Weakness: None

Strengths: None

Status Immunities: None

Common Drop: Phoenix Down

Rare Drop: Power Wristband

Stagger: 120%

Paradox Alpha -Bresha Ruins 005 AF-

Very similar to Gogmago, near identical infect - except this time just watch the movement of the arm rather than waiting for an attack thing to appear. When it moves back, switch to SEN/SEN then back to COM/COM. There's no need for RAV/COM in this fight, as a QTE will trigger stagger. There will be 3 QTE's, 2 in battle and 1 after.

Health: 4920

Weakness: None

Strengths: All

Status Immunities: Poison, Pain, Fog, Daze

Common Drop: Phoenix Down

Rare Drop: Magician's Mark

Stagger: 200%

Weakened Atlas -Bresha Ruins 005 AF-

By this point you'll have monsters and plenty of time to set up paradigms, I recommend having your 3 monsters be in the roles of RAV, SEN, and MED. I used Garchimacera, Pulse Knight (HIGHLY recommended Sentinel, when at Level 20, he will last a very long time through the game), and Cait Sith.

Paradigm Deck

COM/COM/RAV

COM/RAV/RAV

COM/RAV/MED

SEN/SEN/SEN

Once again, similar, although tougher, too Gogmagog and Paradox Alpha. Once again, watch arms movements and change to SEN/SEN/SEN when the attack as been defender, switch back to either COM/RAV/RAV or COM/RAV/MED depending on whether or not you need healed. Once staggered, switch to COM/COM/RAV if you wish, it doesn't matter too much. A QTE will follow his death.

Health: 15554/156000

Weakness: Fire and Ice

Strengths: Magical, Physical

Status Immunities: Poison, Pain, Fog, Daze

Common Drop: Phoenix Down

Rare Drop: Magician's Mark

Stagger: 200%

There is a list of bosses below, for my own reference, ignore them, if you wish. Spoilers down there.

Episode 3, Part 1

     Prophecy of Hope

Aloeidai -Yaschas Massif 010 AF-

Paradigm Deck

COM/COM/RAV(COM)

COM/RAV/RAV

COM/RAV/MED

SEN/SEN/SEN

Aloeidai is a near identical clone of Gogmagog from Episode 1, and plays the exact same way except stronger, so use the same strategy as there, going into Tortoise when he performs Swipe and Landshatter, then COM/RAV/MED to heal up and keep chaining, into COM/RAV/RAV when healed, and COM/COM/RAV(or COM) to finish off, you should have no issues with this boss fight, in all honesty, use potions if things get hairy.

Health: 52900

Weakness: None

Strengths: None

Status Immunities: Deprotect, Deshell, Imperil, Poison, Curse, Pain, Fog, Slow, Doom

Common Drop: None

Rare Drop: None

Stagger: 150%

Caius Ballad -Oerba 200 AF-

*Special Note: All Caius Ballad fights can be "cheesed" by exploiting his weakness to wound damage, to do this simply go SAB/MED/SEN and ensure Serah has the wound spell (Level 6 Saboteur). When he his at min. possible HP, then fight him normally but with him having very low HP.*

Paradigm Deck

COM/COM/RAV(COM)

COM/RAV/RAV

COM/RAV/MED

SAB/MED/SEN

MED/MED/SEN

SEN/SEN/SEN

Depending on how much you have levelled depends on how hard this battle is. By this point you should be approximately 4-5 stages into Crystarium Development, if you are far enough in, say stage 5, stage 6, then you can simply use COM/RAV/RAV your way through, going into MED/MED/SEN occasionally to heal. If you cannot do it this way, try using the wound method mentioned above.

Health: 34560

Weakness: None

Strengths: Melee, Magic

Status Immunities: Defaith, Debrave, Slow

Common Drop: None

Rare Drop: None

Stagger: 300%

Episode 3, Part 2

             Oathbrand

Royal Ripeness -Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF

There will be a cinematic event near the start of this battle, and it also ends with one, so watch out for them!

Paradigm Deck
COM/COM/COM(RAV)
COM/RAV/RAV
COM/RAV/SEN

Stock up on potions before heading to this battle, staying in COM/RAV/SEN, taking the occasional switch too COM/RAV/RAV to do a bit of extra damage, and using the an occasional potion will be able to beat this battle fairly easily.

Health: 102,160
Weakness: Air
Strengths: Fire (Absorbed)
Status Immunities: Imperil, Poison, Slow, Pain, Fog, Curse, Stop, Doom, Wound
Common Drop: Potent Crystal
Rare Drop: Martyr's Badge
Stagger: 200%

Faeryl -The Archylte Steppe ??? AF-

Paradigm Deck:
COM/COM/RAV
COM/RAV/RAV
COM/RAV/SEN
SEN/MED/MED
SEN/SEN/SEN

Faeryl is a very tough opponent while not staggered, your aim should be to get him staggered while in high health and killing him quickly.

Start in COM/RAV/SEN and whack away, healing with potions or SEN/MED/MED when necessary. Be sure to be close to full health when he is about to get staggered, once you are, switch to COM/RAV/RAV and whack away, he will die very quickly and easily. Try to switch into SEN/SEN/SEN for Black Hole and Dragon's Breath for damage limitation. As always, having a nice stock of potions is very handy, especially early in the game without very highly leveled medics.

Health: 108,120
Weakness: Frost, Lightning
Strengths: Fire (Absorbed), Air (Absorbed)
Status Immunities: Deprotect, Deshell, Poison, Pain, Fog, Curse, Stop, Doom, Wound
Common Drop: Potent Orb
Rare Drop: None
Stagger: 150%

Mutantomato -Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF-

Paradigm Deck
COM/COM/RAV
COM/RAV/RAV
COM/RAV/SEN

SEN/MED/MED

A very similar battle to Royal Ripeness, but easier. Stay with the similar COM/RAV/SEN method, or strategically switch between COM/RAV/RAV AND SEN/MED/MED when needed. You shouldn't have too much trouble with this battle. As always, having a nice stock of potions is very handy, especially early in the game without very highly leveled medics.

Health: 49,520
Weakness: Air
Strengths: Melee (1/2), Magic (1/2), Fire (Absorbed)
Status Immunities: Poison, Slow, Pain, Fog, Curse, Stop, Debrave, Defaith, Doom, Dispel
Common Drop: Potent Orb
Rare Drop: Mutant Extract (100% drop, despite being listed as rare)
Stagger: 250%
