Okies... just so I don't spoiler anything I'm currently at Level 7, so....
Story SPOILERS...
As each of my levels advance, I'm swapping between Lightning and Hope, and Sazh and Vanille, and the other two are locked away in cutscene mode so aren't using them at all... though no doubt at some point I will...
So far I've been evenly spreading all my CP, although staying aware that each character has a primary role.. eg: Lightning is a Commando... but in Level 5 I maxed all of Hope's grids thinking as a support role they are all useful for him... but have been holding back on spending too much on the medic role for Lightning... knowing that medic is kind of a last resort role for her (although very useful vs Odin I might add)....
After finishing with Sazh and Vanille in Level 6, I started Level 7 with the other two, and they both had about 4500 CP, even though when I last played them I swear Lightning had a lot more in reserve... Does this mean the game determines what CP you have at the start of each new chapter, and you might as well just use what you have before starting the next chapter?.... or am I imagining things?.. ![]()
Either way, in the phase of the game I'm at, my thoughts are that each character has three roles, which ultimately should all be at least Level 3 by the end of the main story of the game... the other two that each character doesn't yet have are probably not so relevant for them... BUT... each character has a primary role that I'm focusing on keeping maxed as far as I can the whole time I use them, with at least one main secondary role... (Vanille and Hope I figure are the main support role characters but still need one good offensive role)

Imagining things, CP carries over to the next Chapter/Level.
Edit: Each character gets CP whether or not they're in your party, eg, when you're using Hope and Lightning in one of the chapters, Snow, Vanille and Sazh are all also getting the CP for what they do, viceversa. So you should have more in your CP when you get back to them.
Maybe you read the amount wrong before you switched chapters?

If you choose to have lightning as one of your main team then trust me you will use all of her primary 3 roles a lot
Combat Clinic - Medic - Sentinel - Medic
Relentless assualt- Ravager -Comando - Ravager
Delta Attack - Comando - Sentinel - Ravager
Protection - Medic - Sentinel - Synergist
Mystic Tower - Ravager - Sentinel - Ravager
Aggression - Commando - Comando - Ravager
Even Odds - Medic - Saboteur - Synergist
And many more... Im jsut trying to remember of top of my head so if i got some wrong forgive me lol
You want to aim to max out all of her 3 main tiers with ravager probably being the first followed by medic and comando.. If you have been given access to 2ndary roles nows a good time to farm cp and max them all out..

Ok then.... (spot the irony about making sense, with your lack of grammer)... my apologies if my post wasn't as clear as it could have been.. In my efforts to minimise story and party layout spoilers and 'whiten' text out in the process, my post kind of got more disjointed then ideally it could have been .
Anyway... at that point of the game, medic for Lightning was very much a last resort role for her (for MY playstyle at least), except when using it in tandem with Hope eg: Odin fight.. possibly it becomes more useful later on, when I'm assuming a likely group up with the two commando/sentinels who have been hidden most of earlier levels of the game will happen... As it is, I'm using her more as a Ravager than a Commando now that Fang has arrived, so yeah, in my current situation someone has to be medic, and it isn't Fang...
I also prematurely misjudged what I percieved her medic abilities would be.. my nieve assumption at the time was that one of your two top Commandos in the game couldn't possibly be that strong a medic... The Piggyback Stats however have altered my 'misinformed opinion'... so my sincerest apologies....

... Who said it was a comeback? ... you acted rude to me, so I returned the favour. Incidently, I had to read your first reply two or three times to figure out what the hell you were trying to say, so it didn't make 'perfect sense' to me.
Anyway... thanks to Arsenal for actually answering what the thread was about.... carrying over CP to each new level, and TheNomadic for helping clarify the importance of the role of Medic for Lightning. Now that I'm a couple of chapters further along she has to use Ravager a lot, and Medic to an extent too.
