Hi. I know this is going to sound like a stupid thing to be annoyed about, but bear with me. I've been playing FFVII the past few days on my PS3, and simple things like sounds not being the same and the 'swirly' screen before battle not working properly has made me stop playing. The PS3 just can't give the same experience. So I've been trying to play FFVIII, and it's just not working at all.
I've read similar reports all over the internet but no fixes. I have the 60GB European PS3, and a european copy of FFVIII. It boots to the 'Playstation' logo, then a black screen. To rule out it being the disk I tried booting up with disks 2,3 and 4 too. No go.
Does anyone know why this wouldn't work, or how I can resolve it? I thought that PS3 had 100% PS1 compatibility O.o

Hi Brewster,
The sounds are much more tinny than they were on the original. And when I was playing, the swirlyness was frozen, it didn't actually swirl. It's a lot of minor things that I pick up on after playing it for x amount of hours :-P
