Hmm?  This news has actually cooled my interest.  FFX is possibly my favourite game as it is.  Changes aren't necessarily good in this case.  But I'll wait and see.

As long as everything is kept true to the PS2 game, this is great news.... call me mad, but long term this is one of the major reasons I want a PS Vita....

Hopefully they'll just re-render the cutscenes with the FFXIII engine, and alter the ingame engine along that direction, but keep the dialogue, the inventory, the grid system and the combat the same..
