Well for some reaons I've pretty much given up on 13-2 (can't even remember where I was when I played it last) so if this one is going to mix things up and do things differently, bring it on I say.

It's a little worrying to me that Lightning is shown on her own throughout the trailer.

One of the things I most enjoy about most JRPGs is the interconnections between the characters, the storytelling through the team's relationships. One of the places I felt that FFXIII-2 fell down was that by stripping the party down to two people (plus guests) there wasn't much room for that particular aspect. No banter. It's by no means impossible to write good banter between two people, but FFXIII-2 didn't have it.

If the party's been stripped down to one, I fear it could be a bit of a lonely story.

Action-RPG... Still in my enormous pile-of-shame (games bought but not yet played). How's the story hold up in that?

Yeah, good point... RPGs aren't my forte, although I had an old flatmate played nothing but hours and hours of rpgs, of all flavours...

I enjoyed it.. but sadly I never got around to finishing it... Think I put maybe 50 or so hours into it, but it sort of got a bit monotonous for me... My mrs played it further.

They have confirmed that Lightning is the only playable character, although they have also said it will feel like you are controlling a full party.
