My view on FF XIII

Loved VII. VIII was good too although didn't enjoy it as much as VII. I've almost finished the game, at Proudclad second encounter.

But XIII? Yeah looks nice, great attention to detail, but what's the point, once you go past that section you'll never see it again. And linear, to the point of monotoney. And when it opens up to the plains what do you do? Just a bit of exploration and icie statue missions, and that's it! I thought once you up open the world go into towns, talk to people, do sub quests. Nah!

Not impressed Square. Oblivion and Fall Out 3 it isn't. I hope the hope FF releases aren't linear as I won't be buying them.

Bit late.

I shall redirect you to a thread I made back in July rather than copy pasting my whole post here.

And tbh, The furthur away FF gets from the Oblivion and Fallout games the better. I loved Fallout 1 and 2 but aslong as Bethesda continue to use that horrid game engine I'll stay away from it.

Re: My view on FF XIII

I don't mean the engine, just the principle behind it (open) I remember playing Ultima VII, a brilliant game. Never liked Diablo that was linear and boring.

Re: My view on FF XIII

Takes over 100 hours to platinum, fyi.

I do get sick of people comparing every *****ing Final Fantasy for 7. Just ***** off. 6 is my favorite, are you going to see me comparing every FF to it? No. Why? FF IS A GAME WHICH IS UNIQUE FOR NEVER BEING THE SAME WITH EACH INSTALLMENT. If you can't understand that basic concept about the FF games, then you're not an FF fan at all.

Re: My view on FF XIII

MAG takes hundreds of hours to platinum, doesn't mean it isn't incredibly dull & linear as hell.

VII was truly groundbreaking. Plus this is the OPC community and alot of peoples first exposure to FF (With people 18-25~) would've been VII. Its a great game! Whilst I personally prefer VI too, it doesn't matter which one it gets compared to to be honest.

Even now, with FFXIII @ £20, I wouldn't buy it. For that price you can get VII, VIII & IX from the PS store. Or you could track down FF Anthology (IV & V) and FF VI on the PS1.

Re: My view on FF XIII

Although I treasure Final Fantasy VIII as my favourite one of the series I really enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII. Yeah its awfully linear but it had some likeable characters and a battle system that was better than the previous games in my opinion.

He didn't say whether or not it was boring to do, it still counts towards playtime :smileyindifferent: And can someone please tell me what was so ground breaking about VII? It still perplexes me to this day.
