Re: The Complete Guide to Upgrading Weapons and Accessories

Con Catalogue and col catalogues are one shot deals u only need one of each.   They do not stack with themselves.   You pretty much have a 1.x % chance of a trap, until you are hard enough to kill long gui who have 5 % chance but by that time you will have enough from Adamantoises.   They will come in time.   You will get droubts of nothing and then you will hit lucky streaks when every kill seems to yield a drop.

It does take time, a lot of time, i spent many days solidly farming.  (Then i wanted to max out every weapon even boyond the treasure hunter trophy)

You will need 3 traps and a around 30 plats to level up your fave 3 characters ultimate weapons.

Ahhh so I only need one of each. Looks like I've got a long time ahead of me, as I'll probably want to max out every weapon as well.

Re: The Complete Guide to Upgrading Weapons and Accessories

Is there any point in upgrading accessories to star level if I don't want to dismantle them or anything? Like upgrading the Connoisseur's Catalogue, does that give a better drop rate, does upgrading speed shoes make haste last longer etc?

no point at all, unlessy ou need to upgrade it.   It doesnt add to chances at *

You only need to upgrade items that you will be using like kaiser knuckles or imperial armband..

Re: The Complete Guide to Upgrading Weapons and Accessories

One thing Ive noticed lately is that there are alot of people saying to get just one Trapzehedron, upgrade one weapon (Fangs/Vanilles) to * Tier 3 then dismantle it. Apparently it gives you a further 3 Traps.

However, I did this yesterday (I saved before, just in case) and so I dismantled Fangs T3 weapon and only got 2 Traps and some other bits that where only worth selling and got about 400k Gil.

Now I dont know whether its worth doing this or simply grinding another 2 Traps naturally. My question being is that now I have dismantled Fangs weapon, she is no longer that good...is this worth it?

I dont know what save to continue on..... :smileytongue:

You really only need to do the Trapez trick if you're going for a perfect game (All T3 weapons etc)

OR, if you're very unlucky with drops, and get say 6mil with 40 Platinum Ingots and only 1 Trap. At which point you'll probably want some more Tier 3's.

Edit: You will most likely be outweighed in your drops, you'll get more Trap's then you need, for instance: Currently I have 4.5mil gil, and 4 Traps, all my weapons at max out at T2, so I need approx 1.5mil + 1 Trapez to max each one, so my gil is behind 1.5mil atm.

Re: The Complete Guide to Upgrading Weapons and Accessories

Ok, so I've fully ranked up everyone's Crystarium, meaning that I don't have to use the Growth Egg to get double CP any more. My question is:

Do you get anything good for dismantling it at * level, or should I just sell it for the neat sum of 250,000 gil (bearing in mind I need money to level up Nirvana and Omega Weapon)?

Growth Egg (*) dismantles into 2 Perfumes, an Ultracompact Reactor and a Platinum Ingot, so it's better to sell it for 250k gil. (The dismantles would sell for: 25k, 25k, 150k, = 200k).

You may want to keep it for perfectionist sake, since 250k isn't all too hard to get once you start taking down Adamantoises for Platinum Ingots. But sell it if you want, it doesn't upgrade into anything and since you've already have/had it you don't need it for the Treasure Hunter trophy anymore.
