[Work in Progress]The Guide to Upgrading Weapons and Accessories

THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS

I'll update and confirm all the exp requirements once I buy my guide next week.

I've seen many questions pop up about upgrading your weapons, and accessories. Mainly about how to go about doing if effectively and economically, and some other questions.

Basics
To begin upgrading your weapon you must have reached a certain save point in chapter 4, the game then gives you a quick tutorial, but it doesn't explain much.

So, let's start at the basics, to begin upgrading your weapons, get to a save point, and SAVE YOUR GAME BEFOREHAND, then select "Upgrade".
You'll be taken to a menu with Upgrade or Dismantle, let's begin with Upgrade. Click it. You'll now see a list of your weapons, and be able to go down to your accessories, click on weapons, Each and every weapon you own has it's own Level, you will get them at Tier 1, Level 1, there are 3 tiers of weapons per character, the 3rd tier being 8 "Ultimate" weapons all having the same name, but different stats, depending on which base weapon you usd.

Components

You'll be taken to a list of components for your weapons, there are 4 types:
1) Organic [These boost the EXP multiplier for electronics]
2) Electronics [These give high EXP, but don't give multipliers]
3) Transformers [These are used to transform your weapons into a higher tier]
4) Premium Items [These should NOT be used in upgrading, and should be sold in shops for nice gil]

It's fairly obvious which is which, look in the name, if it sounds high-tech and electric, it's probably Electronics, if it sounds like it's from an animal, then it's organic, Transformers (usuaully sound like an ore, or metal) and Premium Items (usually Dolls, Perfume, Gold or Platinum) say it in the item description, so no problem there.

So, how do you go about upgrading weapons economically?

It's best to do it in bulk. Here's what I mean:
Step 1) Save your game. Seeing as your using this tutorial means you're probably still early in the game and can't just buy the materials, so SAVE YOUR GAME.
Step 2) Go to the upgrade weapon screen, and select your weapon, then start throwing Organics on it until it pops up X3 multiplier, this gives you a 3 times boost on your next electronic upgrade.
Step 3) Go to the electronics and refer below to see how much EXP you need to get it to the top rank, do not get it to say, Level 17, this means you have to go and use more organics, so just boost it up to STAR straight away.

Okay, Understood? Probably not... Knowing my luck. Oh, and, It doesn't matter what you use to upgrade, no items give you unique stat boosts to the weapon.

<Coming Soon> For now, use this, it gives the exp requirments for most weapons, but none for accessories :smileysad: (On a Xbox website, oh well...)

FAQ:
Whats the easiest way to upgrade weapons, including buying from shops?
Go to "Creature Comfort" shop and buy 36 Smooth Skins, using these 36 give you a 3x multiplier, and then pop over too "Lenora's Garage" and buy as many Perfect Conductors as you need, these are the best Electronics for XP.

Perfect conductors are good but superconductors offer better xp for gil cost. Perfect for upgrading t1 weapons to *

Also the reason you want to Upgrade your weapons to T3 is that they Also add a 6th ATB bar, like the bonuses and stats were not enuf lol..

bah.. All these posts on weapons upgrading is making just more confused.. lol.

So:

So the best way to upgrade is to use organic parts till you get x 3, then use a whole stack of none organic components to maximise the xp gain, of course after you used the stack the multiplier will more than likely have gone but you can use organic parts to build it up again.

Which I kind of understand, I have not done any upgrading still which is probably why its harder for me to get to grips with.

So you do all that to Max a weapon/equipment out at T1.. Then you repeat for T2?.. So im right so far?

Then comes T3..  Which I understand has different variants?.. How do you get different variants if your upgrading it the same way? is it just luck?

The tier 3 weapon stats depends on what base weapon you used, it's stats will correspond with the stats of the base one (Ultima Weapon from Blazefire Weapon will be balanced, whereas Ultima Weapon from Galdius, will be better at Strength)

Re: [Work in Progress]The Guide to Upgrading Weapons and Accessories

I'm failing to see the point in spending all this effort upgrading your early weapons only to find better weapons along the way. Is it not better to just save all your items and use them on a stronger weapon when you get it?

All weapons are unique in their own way, so all weapons in the game are useful, until the very end, it comes down to preference of which you prefer, some are weaker, but have nice and useful passive abilities.
