i just watched the new trailer at http://www.gametrailers.com/video/japanese-gameplay-final-fantasy/709810 (loving the looks of it by the way must be a futuristic tokyo?)

but what is the connection between the 2 games?

They are part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis collection of games, while XIII and Versus XIII have no direct Story connection, they both use the same type of mythology, like the use of Crystals, l'Cie and fal'Cie.
