Folklore Dungeon Trial Guide: Creating your first Dungeon


Folklore’s Dungeon Trial mode allows you to design and upload your own original dungeons, or download and play through dungeons created by other players.

To help you create your first Folklore Dungeon, Andrew, our lead Dungeon Trial tester for Folklore, has put together this starter guide:



Creating your first Dungeon


When first starting the Dungeon Trial mode, you will only have access to three folk types (Pouke, Killmoulis and Bugaboo) and one boost card (Attack 20%). You must also make sure that you have a game save after you have completed Chapter One of the game.




Step 1: Starting Out


To create a new dungeon, select "New Dungeon" from the Dungeon Trial menu.

This will automatically create a floor, on which you are able to place "Room" and "Corridor" tiles - move the cursor using the left stick.



Step 2: Placing the Starting Point


Move the cursor to a point on the floor where you wish the starting point of your Dungeon to be. When you are happy with the location, press the X button to bring up the Room Select screen.

The Room Select screen displays all the available rooms for your Dungeon - the pages can be scrolled using the L1 and R1 buttons.



For now, highlight the Blue "Start" card in the top left corner and press the X button to examine it. Press the X button again to place it in the Dungeon. If it is not where you want it, press the Triangle button to delete it.

The Starting Point will appear as a Room in the dungeon.


Step 3: Placing Corridors


Once a room has been placed, another room cannot be placed directly next to it. That is, in the spaces North, South, East and West of it you must place a corridor.



To continue the Dungeon from your Starting Point, move the cursor to a square next to the Start room. At the bottom of the screen are Corridor pieces - use the L1 and R1 buttons to scroll through the list. When you have found an appropriate piece, press the Square button to place this piece.


Step 4: Placing Rooms


Placing the next Room is just like placing the Start room, except that Folk Rooms can be configured to increase the difficulty and the amount of time available for the Dungeon.



Move the cursor to the free end of the Corridor and press the X button again. Highlight one of the available Folk and press X to examine it. When examining a Folk card, there are two options on the left:

1. "Boost" items increase either the Attack or Health of the Folk in the room.

2. "Quota" will affect the challenge to the player: "None" means the room doors are unlocked and that every time the room is re-entered, more Folk will appear; and "Complete" means the user will be locked in the room until all the Folk are defeated, but there will be no more Folk present if the user leaves and re-enters the room.

The options can be changed with the left and right directional buttons. Pressing the X button will continue to the next option. The Circle button will go back to a previous option.

When you are happy with the configuration of the room, place it in the Dungeon with the X button.

Continue placing Corridors and creating Rooms with your available cards: at the start of Dungeon Trial you will only have Pouke, Killmoulis and Bugaboo available, with one Boost Attack 20% available.


Step 5: Completing Your Dungeon


When you are happy with your Dungeon, place the Goal Room by selecting it from the available rooms screen. The Goal Room is the Pink card next to the Start card.



After ensuring that your Dungeon has both a Start Room and a Goal Room, and that these are both connected by corridors, press the Circle button to return to the Dungeon Trial menu.

In the bottom left corner of the screen you will see the character your Dungeon is designed for, the total time available for the Dungeon and the Realm that the Dungeon is created for.


Step 6: Uploading Your Dungeon


From the Dungeon Trial menu, select "Upload" on the left and then select "Yes" to upload your Dungeon to the PLAYSTATION Network.



Once it is uploaded you will not be able to see it on the "Download Dungeon" screen, but other users will be able to find it in the correct Realm listed under your PSN Online ID.


Earning Points


Dungeon Points are awarded in return for uploading original dungeons. If you upload a dungeon with a high “Dungeon Point” value, you may be rewarded with extra room allowances and even some rare Folk.

Campaign Points are awarded when you complete other user-created dungeons that you have downloaded. Completing a dungeon will add points to your Campaign Points total, which can be viewed on the Leaderboard.

awesome stuff, didn't even realise this existed till today, gonna have to give it a bash tonight,

makes a great game even better, :Thumbs:,

YEAH YEAH....rub it in why don't ya...some of us would LOVE to start designing dungeons...but have yet to get the game delivered by the Postie!!!

I had no idea you could make dungeons in this game. That's pretty cool, any form of UC is good.
