Re: Casual Race Nights

Yeah saw that article about the rules being altered, hopefully some good news to developers and this kind of game or idea spreads between studios. Is there any sign on how the multiplayer works, are players assigned teams kind of thing or do players join clan kind of things and war with other clans (if those are right words)

Either way definatley sounds good, it is only a matter of time until I start playing EVE anyway really isn't it haha (is there still that free trial offer on Raver?)

Too many games and so little time haha

You join 'Corporations' which can then be in alliances, i'll be joining the alliance i'm already in and everyone is free to join that (could be handy as there are some damn good FPS players from what I hear). There will be a mode where you can just jump into a battle, but otherwise your 'corp' will be hired by EVE players to do battle for them for the resources on a planet, there will be, at some point, the ability for eve players to perform an orbital strike from space (good job i can have my laptop in reach when playing ps3).

The most difficult thing to get your head around at the start will be how to 'fit' your character. it's supposed to be like on eve, but with a little guidance from players who play eve (me) you'll be ok. I'll be happy to fund you all at the beginning too, if i can at launch. There will be a period where there isn't full integration to eve, because  they don't want to mess up the economy (which is a huge part of eve).

I hope the voice chat will be good, on PC i've used eve's voice chat with 100 players on it flying with me at the same time, the only issue was 100 people talking at the same time (EVEs server was one of the 20 biggest and most powerful in the world, not just games, but ALL servers). If not, the group i play with have their own teamspeak 3 server, and you don't get better voice chat than TS (free also).

Dan, there is always a trial offer available from me, I can also get you in with the guys I play with, which is one hell of a laugh.

The learning curve of eve is commonly depicted by  this so be warned

Edit: I have been told that the maps are randomly generated, so you won't get owned by people who know the maps better than you (which always ***** me off)

Re: Casual Race Nights

That sounds fantastic, can't wait for this to be released, definatly worth a look, but then again most free things are. Still can't get my head around that it will be free as well. Is there any definitive release date or is it still summer 2012?

Sounds such a well thought through game, I just really hope it lives up to the promises/expectations

Re: Casual Race Nights

It's been in the making a while apparently, but there's never been a game quite like it before.

Summer 2012, although i've seen Q2 2012 recently, so i'd expect June. It will coincide with the next eve expansion.

Re: Casual Race Nights

Coinciding with the end of first year perfectly by the sounds of it haha. Can't believe how fast the time has gone. Will post it in the other forum too, but anyone fancy any/a final modnation while I'm back over Easter in a couple weeks, as well as F1 gt and Fifa ect

Have you played FM at all recently Raver since either of the patches?

Raver, are you being paid by the makers of eve to promote their game on what is an F1 forum? :smileywink:

I do like it how this forum becomes anything but F1 chatter these days. If codemasters hadn't botched up the game in the last patch that wouldn't be the case... take note codies!! Sort out the mic issue, its doing our heads in!!

Re: Casual Race Nights

Not quite Jay, but more people on Dust means more money-making opportunities on Eve :smileyvery-happy:

The mic issue has really ruined an otherwise good game. It makes it impossible to play with your mates. We had absolutely no lag before, it was one of the best games for voice chat :Shame:

Re: Casual Race Nights

It is a damn shame - I was looking forward to continuing our championship but I can't see the point anymore. The races last night were good but without the banter its just not the same. I wait with baited breath for F1 2012

Re: Casual Race Nights

If we did carry on or start a new championship while I'm back over summer we could all use voice chat over laptops if everyone is able to at least, we'd all add eachother on the service and could chat though that for any long races, or is that not a viable option? Hopefully it becomes a priority issue for CM though, as people have said before it is a PS3 exclusive issue because of the way the voice chat works, Xbox and PC have workarounds without Codie input, suppose just have to plaster their forums with it or something. Or camp outside their offices until they promise, never know what will make companies listen generally

Think Dust could be a good move by EVE, if they get the compatability between the two working well enough I'm sure a lot of people who bought into it as a free game will end up subscribing to EVE, any chance for an advantage. All sounds good though, am looking forward to it
