KERS and DRS

Watching F1 qualifying makes me think, will KERS and DRS be included in F1 2011? Never mind F1 drivers complaining of having too many buttons, we haven't got enough to fit all these on

Re: KERS and DRS

I'm guessing it will mean a lot of sub menues on the dpad to fit it all, hopefully can fit a way together without making it all too complicated/difficult, but going to be hard and take some getting used to

Hope so, there are easily enough spare buttons.

Re: KERS and DRS

id have thought it will be included in 2011. theres an option at the moment to adjust the wing during race, for more or less downforce so maybe it will be in that option. some buttons spare to make one of them for KERS:Thumbs:

That would be the most simplistic way to implement DRS, but I would still like some control over it, say during qualifying.

There'll probably be a setting for it to be on automatically or not.

Re: KERS and DRS

KERS will be X, boost, boost, boost people. :smileytongue:

It's basically the equivalent of nitrous for f1, the usual mapping is 'x' so I can imagine it being that, what is 'x' in F1 2010 anyway? :smileytongue:

Re: KERS and DRS

X is change view I think, not sure if it is that as default on controller or not. I'd love it to be circle and triangle, easy to cover and buttons they are mapped to aren't special, calling for pit and pitlane limiter. Will be interesting to see how they do juggle it all around though for 2011, can't wait

Re: KERS and DRS

[ Edited ]

KERS is the left bumper button, wile DRS is one of the face buttons and Eurogamer say its actually quite awkward using them in tandem while using manual gears.

DRS is like in real life, you can activate it when you want so as long as you meet the requirements of being under a second behind, and in the designated zone.

Out of race conditions your free to use it when you like i.e in practice and qualifying.

In the race, DRS is limited to when you're under a second behind a competitor, and even then it can only be activated in special zones. Outside of race conditions, however, it's a free-for-all, and nailing a hot lap either in qualifying or in one of the game's time trials is as much about knowing when it's safe to open up the rear wing.

Get it wrong and it can be disastrous. It's here that Blanchimont - a beast at the best of times in F1 2011 - can become a complete disaster zone. When using DRS, the rear wing automatically snaps shut upon pressing the brakes, but leave it open when entering a high downforce corner such as Blanchimont or Eau Rouge and you'll swap ends at gut-churning speed.

Get it right, though, and it can be worth a good second on a hot lap. Going fast in F1 2011 is about more than perfectly met braking points and bulls-eyed apexes - it's also about micro-managing the car and its systems, a strange and initially disconcerting experience but certainly a novel one.
