Welcome to the Tuning Garage.

Whether you wish to share a tune, request a tune, or simply ask some questions, this thread will be your one stop shop.

 

 

And without any further ado, I'll start things off with one of mine.  

 

I decided to have a go at the current Sport Mode Gr.4 race.

I noticed everyone was in a GT-R or Scirocco, so of course I went for something different.  

 

My basic plan of attack was to get a few cars and run them stock around the track.

Which ever car seemed to handle okay and was quick time-wise compared to the others came out on top.

And for me the winner was the Audi TT.

 

So I spent a reasonable amount of time in Sport Mode Qualifying mode, trying to adjust the car and better my lap times.

Once I was happy that I had a reasonably quick car, I went racing.

I continued to adjust the tune during the periods between races, until I ended up with what I think is quite a fast car.

 

I have run a 1:41.9 in Qualifying, so that has given me plenty of poles or high grid positions.

Apparently it's good for a 1:41.6 should I hook up all the sectors in one lap.

And for a, let's say, perhaps better than your average Joe driver, but certainly no "alien", that's a pretty good result.

So that tells me it must be a reasonable tune.

 

Bear in mind this car is front wheel drive.

And it's a shocker for hooking up and accelerating in low gears.

 

Also bear in mind that this tune was done by me using a wheel.

How it translates to a controller is unknown.

 

Anyway, enough waffling.

GT Sport has a different scheme for the old "Spring rates". It is called natural frequency. There is almost no useful guidance in-game about how to use this new scheme, so the following links are a start down that road of discovery.

GT Sport replaces Spring Rate in the suspension settings with what they call Natural Frequency. Ride Frequency is a common name for it, too.

 

There are three aspects to this adjustment, in real life: weight, stroke and spring rate, but we don't have full control over these inputs in Sport. The following comments are general. You will see why soon.

 

The lighter the car, the lower the NF setting can be adjusted. The faster a car can go (more HP, more weight), you will want to increase the setting. Race cars will probably need a higher setting still, but once you include high aero forces, everything gets thrown out of the window.

 

Front wheel drive cars will probably need a lower setting at the front, to allow more grip. In the past, GT allowed unusually high rear spring settings for FWD cars, so we will have to experiment with that in Sport. Mid-engine cars will probably need a lower setting to keep the front end from washing out in the curves.

Has anyone got any tips for the mission challenge 8-6 the 15 min endurance race on Blue moon bay?

I have tried this many many times struggle to get up to the leading pack and even when I do and pull into 2nd place, 1st will just pull away where I can not use the draft.

So frustrating!

I feel this event has been optimised with a racing rig and the pace is just a little to fast for most controller users.

Fuel map and pit schedule tips would possibly help!

full power use as much draft as possible,

 pit stop with most of the pack, end of lap 10 i think so you have others to draft when leaving pits.

stick with RH tires and full power to the end, good luck :)

 

AI brakes on final corner making them slow, race requires 1 & 3/4 tanks of fuel, don't over fill

i might be completely wrong sorry, i thought I'd got first but says 3rd on my record, tried again and best i can do is fighting with 1st which on two attempts is a very fast wrx, i have a feeling am going about it wrong.

 First of all, find a car with high top speed. Some cars go a little bit faster at the top, but I presume the challenge can be done in any of the car models. Start with medium tires, pit one lap ahead of the rest and win. :-)

Finally finished gold in the 15 min endurance on blue moon bay😅

No pit stop with FM @ 6 then down to 5 when first cars pit and down to 4 when the next lot pit and block like a mad man for the last few laps!

Just tried these setting and I can say they improved my times by at least 2 sec. I'm  using a controller.

Ummm ... hmmm.

 

Karts are really only something I do on rare occasions for a bit of fun.

And unless I'm mistaken, the only option is for gearing.

 

Are you sure it isn't a game function like "boost" that is helping the other karts go flying past?

Sorry mate, I missed your post yesterday.

I don't mind taking a bit of a look at it.

It doesn't seem that anyone else is keen for the challenge.  

 

Are you running it with standard power, weight, and tyres and just want suspension, etc. played with?

Or do you want it as fast as it can go?

Quickest tune ever.  

 

Obviously I spent little time with it.

And it was literally the first time I've driven Dragon in reverse.

And this car for that matter.

 

But the numbers I threw at it seems to be a lot better than the first few laps I put in when it was standard.

I'm wondering if I should have stiffened the rear a little to help with the classic FF understeer, but I didn't seem to be seriously struggling in that department, so for now take this for a run and see what you think.

 

I drove it with ABS on default, no other assists, using a wheel and manual gears.

All I did with the gears was install the customised box.

It seemed to suit the track okay as it was so I haven't touch it.

 

But as I say, take it for a spin, give some feedback, and we can go from there.
