Overpriced & Over-Simplistic.
I've got the real thing's, twin Technics SL1210's & a Gemini mixer. I use to do some club DJ'ing back in the '90's and would never give them up for something as"CHEAP" looking as that contraption from Activision.
I don't play Guitar but did have a go on Guitar Hero at a friends & have to admit that it was a fun game, & I believe that this game would be fun to the those who don't quite understand the complexity of mix DJ'ing. However this game isn't some kind of DJ'ing simulator, in the same way the Guitar Hero didn't teach you how to play the Guitar.
Looking at the hardware itself, it looks poorly made, & that crossfader looks like it'll break in a week.
It could be fun, but it's not for me.
I was a sucessful resident DJ for 12 years and love the game. As you say you don't learn to play the guitar by playing Guitar Hero. The game isnt designed to mimic mixing/beatmatching. It's all about fun ![]()

I was waiting for this arguement to crop up.
Like youself I too DJ'd in my youth in the likes of the HAC, Bowlers and even Shelleys (well once) and agree it's nothing like the real thing but you are missing the point. Its the same as being an expert on GH doesnt make you Jimi Hendrix its merely and experience at playing a game differently.
You are right that the game doesnt teach you to beat mix or build set lists based on records but it doesnt claim to. It is merely a fun game to play that is all
As for the hardware well put it like this. I was forever spending money on replacing faders for mixers and as you may know ehn you play in a club I would also carry around spare faders as they always always break after a month or so heavy use even on your Gemini's. Obviously it depends what you are doing with it and what type of music you are playing but every mixer I have come across (a lot) has had problems so you could say they are making them realistic.
The game itself cant be compared to the real thing but is a fun experience that is all

Finding the right game for you and your children can be difficult. To help aid you, especially in the run up to Christmas, we've created a directory of family/child-friendly games that may appeal to you, as well as creating easy to read icons, so you needn't read walls of text!
Simply hover your cursor over each icon below for a more thorough description.
Feel free to create threads for games not already listed and please post your feedback. Together we can really help educate and hopefully make a positive difference to those panicked shoppers this year.
If you need help creating a thread, making a post or have ideas for more helpful icons, please feel free to contact me (Bearskopff).
