Firefly is, IMO, the best TV series ever made.

So I'll do it.

It's a massively overrated series but highly enjoyable nonetheless and it would be great to have it on a main network over here.

Re: > Request Firefly - 29th July, In UK on Channel 4 + BBC

The series was excellent, and the film was good, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope for another series. Whedon won't work with Fox again, and I doubt Fox will release the rights to the first season just to be spiteful. Without the rights to the first season, no network in it's right mind will pick up any more seasons.

Another film is a possibility, but as Serenity resolved a fair few plot lines, and revealed a fair amount of several characters' pasts, there would need to be an entirely new set of story arcs, which may well end up seeming overly contrived.

Farscape went through a similar process, and got a mini series to finish it up. Fans are still banging on about how an other series or a film would be good, and is still possible if we keep the profile of the show high enough, but to be honest, can anyone here who's heard of Farscape really see it coming back? Has anyone on here actually heard of it?

The basic truth is this: Firefly/Serenity is pretty much dead and gone in terms of TV and film. Comics, novels, games and so on may keep it going, but probably not. Good series' get killed off all the time, while crap keeps on trucking. When there are popular shows like Lost, 24, Heroes et al, why would any network spend the vast amount of money on something like Firefly? Sadly, it just doesn't make enough economic sense.

However, I would personally be very pleased if Firefly got resurrected in some way, same with Farscape.

It was a shame this show was cancelled... it was a shame that the movie was a shame.

Re: > Request Firefly - 29th July, In UK on Channel 4 + BBC

It was a superb show and a top film, and I'd love to see another series/movie.

I've said it before, I'll probably say it again, but it's basically Han Solo: The Smuggling Years. If the thought of excellent, likeable characters, good plotlines, fantastic humour and some great special effects appeals, then go pick up the Firefly boxset. Then, when you're done with that get Serenity for about £5 from Tesco or Play.

The series was the best damn purchase I ever made for just £13. Am thinking of getting a model of Serenity for my birthday, although not sure yet (it's £20).

Anyway, the long and short of it is that you need to seek out this series. Best programme in the 'Verse :smileywink:
