Re: FA Cup thread

Rochdale vs FC United of Manchester should be a good game to watch on Friday night.

The story behind FC United is really great, a club that is being run really well for the fans and the community, also really focused on what makes football great. Policies such as no time wasting, no faking injuries, no diving, pay what you can afford for tickets etc... It was a pretty tough decision for them to play on a Friday night as they are strongly opposed to moving kick-off times but they allowed it on this occassion as they need the money for a stadium of their own, and it would also be unfair on Rochdale if they refused.

Unfortunately for Manchester United, most of their good supporters have gone to FC United but it is better for football and the community in the long run.

Re: FA Cup thread

Imo if they've gone to FC United they aren't 'good supporters'. Yeah, it was made due to the Glazers stuff and all the problems at Man Utd. When it's all said and done though, it's not Manchester United and never will be. They've left the club they were such a 'good supporter' of.

Managers, players, owners etc... come and go, the fans are the people that make the football club. Since they were being pushed out by their own club, by high prices, changing kick-off times, almost no involvement in the club, high wages for players, agents fees etc... they felt the need to almost "reform" the club.

Fair play to them, if they can't afford to go to games of their own club, if they can't get involved when they are willing to put time and money into the club, when they no longer feel part of a club then what is the point. They want to be going to games and be part of the club. They are still Manchester United fans, just what they see as the real Manchester United.

I think this sums it up well:

"Supporting FC United, connecting with my fellow fans, has made me feel part of something again. You pay a sensible price to watch matches, you stand on the terraces, you sing and nobody is telling you where you have to sit and what you can and can't do. You meet so many wonderful people in non-league football. My heroes used to be people like Law, Charlton and Cantona, but now my heroes are the people who do so much for their clubs at this level."

Re: FA Cup thread

I always love the special feeling of the FA Cup more so when we play a lower league team. We've got Tipton Town tomorrow, we should win and it will be good to see some of our young loan signings Tom Cruise (Can he perform the mission impossible and help us get to the 3rd round :smileytongue:) and a few Man Utd players Norwood, Evans and Chester. Aint seen Evans yet he's been mainly on bench.

Come on Carlisle :smileyvery-happy:
