Re: Support your local team!

I don't really agree at all, I'm a life long villa fan but i've lived in atoke for 15 years, so my local team is stoke city, why support both?
I think supporting more than one team is essentially just plain admitting to glory hunting

I think football is diluted by people supporting more than one club , for true passionate fans their love for the one club they support is Part of their character .

Just my opinion but people who support multiple clubs is a bit of a pet hate of mine

So what about me then?

The first football match I ever went to see was Swansea City vs Manchester United and it was the game that got me interested in the sport. Being from Swansea I support my local team first and foremost, but I always look out for Manchester United results and news because I have also like them ever since that day when I was reall young.

So I should not be allowed to show my appreciation for that northern club which introduced me to the game?

I think that somebody who regularly supports/watches their local team, whilst holding somewhat of a support for a team like Man Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal does a lot more good for football than somebody who just claims to be a passionate Man Utd fan but never goes to any games.

I wouldn't say that I support any other club than Hull City, but I certainly have favoured teams when watching games on the TV. When a game involves one of the top teams I am nearly always rooting for one of them. I imagine those who pick a team in the Premier League whilst supporting and attending the games of a lower league side have a similar motive, to make those games more exciting, to have a bit of competition between friends etc...

To be honest I'd say I'm close to what you mention here mate.

I support my local team Carlisle United and always will I try get to as many games as I can while at uni and I cannot wait to go to Brammal Lane next weekend and win!

But Chelsea are my second team and as someone else mentioned it was passed down to me and I try go to a few Chelsea games a year at least 5. So I go both but Carlisle will always be my first team.

Re: Support your local team!

I've moved to just outside of London and it's rare to see United fans around here, most people support Arsenal and Spurs.

what about you?

all you've said here is i like to look out for man u resutls...not exactly what i would call ''supporting '' a team, which is if im not mistaken what the title of the thread was....

unless ofcourse you are in some way trying to insiuate you support man u just because you look out for the results....& then in that case you epitomise why i hate people who support more than one club, it shows no actualy support, its lazy & no kind of real support, there's a reason its called ''supporting'' a club....your money , your time & your effort going into helping the club & team achieve , otherwise its just claiming associtation with success where there simply is none

I see what your saying but again its not supporting a team is it, its just favouring one over the other when a game is on TV, champions league games i always root for the english team yet i dont consider myself a chelsea/arsenal/man u/ man city supporter , i would consider support to be the team you follow , the one you buy the shirt for, the one you watch the matches for, the one you follow through thick & thin.

Im sure there are plenty of reasons why people will follow one of the top 4-5 treams aswell as the other one they suppport but personally I'm a villa fan, & i sit in the holte end surrounded by villa fans who wear villa shirts & proud its the one & only club they support...

but each to their own, like i said its just my opinion

Re: Support your local team!

I support my local team. Could never be a plastic. I know so many united 'fans' who have never seen a game. Yet I have been up and down the country supporting Palace.
