Mayweather came out of a 21-month retirement in September 2009 and fought Marquez, dropping him in the second round and winning a near-shutout decision, a far more dominating performance than Pacquiao has had against him in any of their three bouts.

It took Mayweather 10 rounds to down Hatton, but it only took Manny 2 (after 3 knockdowns in the first). Statistics like that will never tell you the whole story to be honest... Marquez gave Manny a hard time because of the contrast in styles (A counter puncher vs a Brawler). When Marquez fought Mayweather, he was going up against an already defensive boxer, leaving his counter punching brilliance a bit useless.

That being said, in a Mayweather Pacquiao bout, I can't see a clear winner. I certainly can't see it being stopped... Maybe another dubious decision? :smileyvery-happy: It HAS to happen.

Re: The Boxing Thread

Hatton was undefeated when Mayweather fought him.
Remember that just another jobber fight for Pacquiao

Wow. If we are going by that logic then let me bring up a huge list.

Floyd's two fights with Castillo don't count because he had already lost 3 times.

His fight with Arturo Gatti doesn't count because he had already lost 5 times.

Fights with Zab Judah, Carlos Baldomir, Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Moseley and Victor Ortiz don't count because they have all lost before.

That is just an idiotic excuse you have come up with. Only someone that doesn't know about boxing would come up with an answer like that.

'somebody about boxing'
pathetic pal, Pacquiao goes after Mayweathers ex fighters all the time. I don't see the point, he's just not good enough to fight Mayweather.

'somebody about boxing'

Wut??

He's fought 3. De La Hoya, Mosley and Hatton. So that means because Mayweather fought Marquez that means he is going after Pacquiao's ex fighters? Oh right. Pacquiao also fights the guys that Mayweather wouldn't fight in the past. He ducked Cotto and Margarito. Two guys that Pacquiao actually annihilated.

Then why doesn't Floyd sign on the dotted line?

It's a shame really. Both are GREAT fighters, but neither of them can prove anything else to the world until they fight one another. Both are in their prime now... They should just get it on.

I'm sure it was Pacquiao who refused to do a drug test mmm

Re: The Boxing Thread

Manny said no to Floyds demands of a none-official style of drug testing. Manny doesn't react well to having blood taken, but was all for the normal, regulated drug testing thats performed officially by the boxing boards. Also, Manny agreed to have blood taken directly after the fight just to prove he wasn't using illegal substances, as it wouldn't impact on his performance.

Really though... They should just let the board do their jobs, fight, and sort it out. Both are two of the best boxers we've seen in a while... Will be gutted if they don't fight.
