Scholes is/was great, but considering the circumstances of this tournament, it would seem silly to bring someone back to the team who is on the verge of retirement.
I was undecided on the Crouch/Carroll debate. Ultimately, you have to take one of the two. Crouch certainly has a great record for England, but you would also say that Carroll is a bit of an unknown quantity, who knows, he could set the tournament alight
Though I do think that Richards should be there ahead of Johnson, and i'm surprised at the inclusion of Downing. I suppose in Downing he is maybe looking for more of a left-midfielder than a left-winger - the likes of Walcott and Ox are in the team, so maybe more like Lennon and Sturridge is unnecessary.
