Re: Barclays Premier League Thread

Blatter wants a penalty shoot-out alternative.

Anybody have any ideas? :smileyvery-happy:

Since i'm guessing the aim is for the game to be decided on the same sort of things which win/lose most football games. Then I suggest that both teams get one go at attacking, and one go at defending. The defending team can only have their Keeper and 4 players (i.e. the back four), whereas the attacking team can have all their players - the defending team cannot score, they just have to defend for as long as possible. After both teams have had a go, whoever scored quickest wins.

Blatter wants an end to penalty shootouts

Following an English clubs long overdue victory in penalty shootouts against foreign opposition, the worlds most prominent corrupt, anti-british organisational leader has called for an end to penality shootouts.

Labelling the shootout mechanism a "tragedy", after English club Chelsea clinched victory of German club Bayern Munich, it is the first instance we know of where Sepp Blatter feels the game loses it's essence due to the one on one method of deciding a winner. Sepp Blatter previously congratulated teams in the public domain for a competiting bravely when they were victorious of the English national team, or an English domestic club.

He previously suggested that all games in the World Cup should be ended with penalty shootouts if there was a draw score, including during the group stages... when England were famously losing any penalty shootout they participated in.

Agreed.

Have this as the default thread for all football (Premier League, Championship, La Liga, International friendlies etc...). Then just create new threads for things which will generate a lot of discussion (Euro's, big news story etc...).

Re: Anyone going Wembley this weekend?

I've been to Wembley twice to watch Barnsley. We lost on both occasions.

Re: Barclays Premier League Thread

Yaster said he's going to talk to others about renaming this thread as it's been around for a while so it might not take kindly to the person who created it,

However he said he is going to talk to others seeing if it should get renamed.

So basically whoevers for the renaming agree here!
