I don't understand why people say this, why not wait till he's been at City for a couple of seasons before judging him.

Obviously if he thinks it's just going to be a nice 'end of career' sellout for the money, then fine, us City fans would let him know what we think of that, but, Robinho is proving that they're not all like that.

I'm not saying it's going to happen, I don't believe it myself.

The way i see it, you are going for all the wrong players. You need to get good proven premier league players and then qualify for europe every year. Then go for players like him, 1) theres more chance of it happening, 2) then you can be 100% sure its not for the money.
Robinho basically had nowhere else to go after the shenanigans with real madrid and chelsea refusing to pay it was the only route for him. As for putting effort in etc so would i for 100,000 + a week.

Well if it helps Mikk, then it was also confirmed on BBC Sport, so if you don't belive this 'gossip', then if the news channels are reporting it, then there must be some truth in there.

Well, until something is posted on mcfc.co.uk, I'm gonna take it as a rumour.

Of course.
I wouldn't hold you breath though on it appearing on there (if it happens) for along, long time.

Chelsea didn't buy 11 superstars in one transfer window, besides its my opinion doesn't matter if its right or wrong its going to have no impact on what city decided to do

Manchester Evening News

"Blues play down link with Eto'o"

Chris Bailey writes: Samuel Eto'o and Thierry Henry last night failed to finish the game or dent Chelsea's stubborn defence, but it will not stop the pair becoming two of the hottest properties in this summer's transfer market.

Manchester City will be just one of a host of clubs interested in the pair if they officially become available.

Eto'o, 28, will command a transfer fee and wages close to the £32.5m City paid for Robinho and the £160,000 per week they pay the Brazilian. He was not at his most eye-catching in the goalless first leg of the Champions League semi-final at the Nou Camp.

Nevertheless, there were glimpses of the movement, power and lightness of touch that makes him so sought after.

Already strongly linked with City, the striker has inevitably been mentioned as a target for last night's opponents as well as Spurs. Despite his recent insistence that he wants to stay at Barca, there are those who believe a big-money move is inevitable.

Stories that City had already made a bid are, however, as wide of the mark as the Spanish side's first-leg shooting.

Some may well have been working on the `no smoke without fire' theory after City's executive chairman Garry Cook met with Joan Laporta, the Barcelona president.

But registering interest in a player is not the same as bidding for one and Blues boss Mark Hughes had a perfectly plausible explanation for the Cook-Laporta chin-wag.

"There has been speculation about players all year long and it is something predictable and that we have learned to live with," he said.

"The Samuel Eto'o story is because Garry (Cook) is trying to forge relationships with the kind of clubs who, in the past, would not have passed the time of day with City.

"Now, because of Sheikh Mansour's involvement, these clubs want to have a relationship with us and talk about plans that can benefit both of us. It is Champions League week and maybe some English journos in Spain got wind of a meeting that had taken place, but I don't think it was about any specific individuals."

Hughes' take on events is backed up by the fact that AC Milan officials visited Eastlands in the last two weeks to rebuild any bridges that might have been damaged in the January spat over Kaka and his failed £95m move.

There is little doubt, though, Hughes will be in the market for additional A-listers this summer as the Blues continue their bid to become the equals of Barcelona on the pitch and not just in the boardroom.

They have been linked with Eto'o on numerous occasions and also his team-mate and world superstar Henry, who was the better of the two against Chelsea. He tested Petr Cech on a couple of occasions and drew some heavy treatment from the visitors, most notably Alex and Michael Ballack.

That was posted on the website :smileyvery-happy: Knew it was just a rumour.
