Re: loved it and matt Re: New Doctor Who and new assistant

Much better than the last couple of series which were largely poor except for a few episodes.

Looking like there is the potential for this series to be as good as the first two (talking about new series').

Yeah, Im enjoying this so far. When Catherine Tate was made David Tennants 'side-kick' I was completely put off and stopped watching until the later part of the last series, but this new series actually feels quite refreshing and I am quite looking forward to the rest of the series now - something I havent been able to say about Doctor Who for quite a while.

Good episode. The next episode looks interesting with the Daleks in WWII.

Did anyone else notice the sign saying "Magpie Electronics"?

Yup.

My brain spent ten minutes trying to work in a connection with the energy creature that took over the original Magpie shop.... and then it went all Moby ***** on me.  :smileyhappy:

Loved the appearance of another crack although it was a little less subtle this time.

I probably wouldn't have had the camera zoom in on it...just let the ship fly past.  Still....exciting stuff.

Re: loved it and Matt Re: New Doctor Who and new assistant

I'm another person who wanted to hate him but I was sold after about 5 mins into the 1st episode, I didn't like Tennant much I thought his Doctor acted a bit like a hypoactive drama student ( sorry just  my opinion ) much preferred Eccleston myself. But I have a feeling that Matt Smith is gonna be bigger. And the new assistant is the best one for quite a while ( Piper was overrated too )

Re: New Doctor Who and new assistant

Whilst i liked the episode it felt that somethign was lacking, i couldn;t place my finger on it, but maybe it was jsut adjusting to the new characters, who after an amazing pilot had to start settlign down into the main bulk of things, ( ilove the fact that the episodes seem to run into each other as a long season arc rather than individual stories per se) One thing i did fidn interesting however in this episode wasn't actually the appearance of that crack once again (could the crack be bought on by the doctor himself, i get the feeling things aren't quite right with him after the end of time, in the first episode ofr instance he clutches his chest and mentions its too soon, could he be infected in some way?)  But actually there was another reference to zero, this time the score the child got in the beginnign rather than a prisoner, coudl thsi be significant?

Well, the next episode is wrriten by Mark Gatiss, who also wrote the Idiot's Lantern with the oirginal Magpie shop, so we may get some connection next episode. Particualrly as the story in the next one is probably only set a few years earlier. Who knows....

Anywho, loved the last episode, the only thing I didn't quite get were the Smilers. They didn't really do much, I thought they'd fit into the overall story a bit better, but they were just to put there to make it a bit scarier. Other than that it was great though!

Re: New Doctor Who and new assistant

Didn't like the new episode too much :smileyindifferent:, the threat just didn't seem to really be there for me... The smiler guys were just rubbish enemies.

I did like seeing a 'darker' side of the the new Doctor though.

Can't wait for next week though, Daleks are back... again XD
