Paranormal Activity 2

Watched this on Saturday. It's ok, but I would recommend you wait until it is released as rental to be honest.

Spoiler
Basically it is a prequel, set about 60 days before the first film and explains why the demon is haunting. Kate (the woman from the first film) had the demon passed to her by her sisters husband who consulted with a hispanic woman, as the demon originally went for Kate's sister's house. The demon is after her sister's son, because their grandmother made a deal with Demon to get rich but in return, the first born son of that bloodline would be taken by the whatever it is that is haunting them. There is no real background to that development deal, it is simply learnt by the daughter who researches it on the internet. There were a couple of good jumpy moments, but alot was laughable... such as the dog being dragged away because it can sense the demon lol... still makes me laugh. Oh and the baby getting lifted out of the cot is funny as well. And no, you don't get to see the demon. After the demon possesses Kate's sister, and so then gets passed on to Kate's and Mika's house, it jumps to the timeline of the first movie, where we see Kate who is possessed in her sisters house, killing the inhabitants and taking the baby boy. They still try passing it off as a true story. The best part though is Kate's bust! She has got a nice rack and I respect a woman who doesn't wear bra's... she doesn't get them out, you can see here has big boobs by looking at her T-Shirt. No bra's is healthier... so yup, respect to her!

Re: Paranormal Activity 2

Was pretty bad imo.

Took far to long to get going again and once it did it was very anti-climatic pretty quickly.

The way it tied in was pretty good and there were one or two intense moments, but it's certainly not worth the ticket price.

Re: Paranormal Activity 2

I didn't think it was that bad, but I did quite like the first one.

I thought the way they tied the story into the first was a bit rubbish though, it didn't fully cohese and didn't quite make sense.

That was the original ending. There are 3 different endings in total!

Back on topic, I loved PA2. I didn't read/watch any previews or trailers for it, just went in with an idea of what to expect after enjoying the first one.  Seemed to be an even slower starter than the first, but when it got going, it was really good. Plenty of moments to make you jump, and the story blended beautifully with the first.

Can't wait to see what they have in store for the next one.  Am thinking they might change the concept to keep it fresh, & go for a more "concentrate on the story" approach. There's only so much you can do with night vision cameras & moving stuff! Time will tell though.

Re: Paranormal Activity 2

Thought it was distinctly average with a rushed ending. One or two moments that really make you jump though.

I thought it was dog's eggs. As if they'd had an idea for one scene then tried to make a rubbish film around it.

Pfft, will give this a miss as the first was rubbish.

How was it?

I really enjoyed the first film. Proved that you don't need gore, monsters (on a technicality with this one) or blood to make a successful 'horror' film.

The sequel does take a while to get going but once it does it's very entertaining. The REC-influenced scenes are fairly decent but the ending almost ruined the whole thing. Who on Earth thought it would be a good way to end it?

People have different tastes, some like it, I didn't, hence why I thought it was rubbish.

Not atmospheric in the slightest (look no further than Japanese/Koren films for atmosphere) and the whole docu-horror has been done before (Blair Witch, REC etc). Oh, and it's a prequel.
