Re: 8 out of 10 cats.

I did watch it indeed, was very funny.

I dont see the big issue with the tax malarky, if somebody came to me and said that I could legally pay less tax then I would bite their hand off.

If you bit their hand off I doubt they would want to help you anymore.

[ Edited ]

he did nothing wrong, tax avoidance is working to the spirit of the tax system and is fully legal. It's not even morally wrong, hes only saying that because he he wants so save some reputation.

I think its disgusting that when a private citizen finds a way to pay little tax, the prime minister himself gets involved, despite companies paying accounting firms huge ammounts of money to avoid tax with little comment.

Why didnt he call Jermy clarkson out? and others? and the companies who will write off hundreds of thousands rather than give it to them?

I agree. And if the government wanted to close the loopholes I doubt it would be that difficult, but it may mean some companies moving their operations (and jobs) elsewhere. Or worse, no longer making donations to political parties.

Take That's Gary Barlow was in the news last week for the same thing. It's just the way the media decide to single out one individual in this case Jimmy Carr. The sun is probably shining brighter out of Barlow's rear after the recent jubilee concert and charity work.

^ This.

Maybe people would be less inclined to avoid tax if they didn't feel the government was pi$$ing it up the wall...?
