I'm a native Saudi and I'm against the keeping of race because i think it's backward , for this I don't like my Saudi society because many of them are still have this backward idea that they should marry from the same race and do not  marry and have children from another races. that and they allow relatives marriage , and this is sick. :/

Its all relative, some people will not only marry someone of the same race, but they will also have to be the same religion, this still wont be enough the person will then have to be at the same class level or work a similar job.

Its the same everywhere.

In england Tony Blair had to remain protestant to be prime minister, You have white anglo saxon protestant clubs, You have upper class who wouldnt be seen dead with lower class, and you have whats pretty close to inbreeding happening because people are too snooty etc.

Same in Ireland, irish people mix more when they go abroad, in Ireland its still very much people will end up with people in their same social class and religion with same colour skin.

Either way, all them people are just simple minded, white chavs marrying white chavs and toffs marrying daughters of toffs.

like most of the royal families across europe, but you know what I mean, in general there is still a class system in place across europe, Ireland, England, France etc.

I just think its silly, If you look in a girls eyes and think "shes amazing but i could never be with her or have her kids, i need someone my colour and from my class" well its laughable, id feel sorry for someone like that, but also happy that their gene pool was not infecting the rest of the world.

Re: A question of race.

I don't think that society is the cliquey way in which you describe it.

People are just more likely to both meet, and have more in common with, people from similar backgrounds as them. I don't think that any conscious choice about race/background comes into it most of the time.

Re: A question of race.

must be a conicidence then and everyone is lovely and the prejudice I see in society is probably just projected on it by me as its a viewpoint I hold.

But yeah, youre right, for a lot of people its a sub consious choice that has been reinforced in them from childhood, and they dont need any consious effort to breed with the wrong sort.

Its the year 2012, there is no real reason for you not to be able to meet wealthy, rich, poor, white, black, asian people and mix with them and fall in love with them, the only reason that you wouldnt be able to is if your clique had actively seperated itself from them groups, which they do of course, which just reinforces my point.

I mean you could meet royalty while in the army, when youre working class, you have the army in common. Not gonna happen though really.

Re: A question of race.

Its not just about colour of skin which is a barrier. You need to take into account if people have the same values as you also e.g. religious, culture etc because if you are on the opposite ends of the spectrum it could cause problems.

I don't think you can't help who you fall for tbh, looks, religion, colour may not come into it at all.

I have a few 40-ish friends who have a massive list of what they want in a partner, religion and colour come way down on those lists.

I know men who have refused women purely because they have the wrong hair colour. We all have different ideas of what is and isn't attractive and often we end up with people who we didn't find attractive in the first place but fell for them for another reason altogether. We live in a society that constantly tells us what is and isn't beautiful, handsome or sexy and many of those labelled such I find to be quite the opposite.

Fen's idea is too black and white I think. Of course, society moulds certain ideas of what is and what is not acceptable, mixing races and mixing religions certainly was a massive issue at one time but I don't think that's the case these days. But people always have the right to freedom of choice, I don't think anyone should be berated or castigated for saying what their own choice is tbh and I certainly don't think it makes someone a racist either.

How many people claim to have fallen in love with somebody online, never knowing what their appearance is, only the colour and size of their font?

EDIT and how much of that racism we see is due to the actual interbreeding between colour and culture? I see far less of the former and alot more of the latter these days.

I agree with Domiiinatrix.

Though i support the marriage of diffrent races , but if they share the same belive because i think it's very important  and it may affect on their relationship  :s
