Re: ARGH! THEY DID IT AGAIN!!

Doesn't matter how many times they repeat it I still won't believe them.

Re: ARGH! THEY DID IT AGAIN!!

Doesn't bother me as i don't do particle physics anymore, however feel sorry for the poor guys who have to rewrite the laws of physics now.
You can't save time only spend it.

Re: ARGH! THEY DID IT AGAIN!!

this isn't the second time they've had these results, actually the experiment was first conducted in america & they also came out with the same results a few years ago, but it wasn't researched enough as the distance measure wasn't very big so the margin of error was larger, it wasn't until CERN reproduced the same experiment & came out with the same results over a larger distance which shortened the margin of error everyone sat up to take notice.

but more than anything this is the best argument for string theory so far as there are now experiments that you can replicate to support it, but it doesn't necessarily mean a re-writing of the laws of physics , its more of an add on to the ones we have now, so string theory is added to our general understanding , in the dimensions we exist these rules still apply but it could prove its possible to break through into ''the bulk'', the larger body that encompasses ours where the same laws do not apply

exciting times

My understanding is that America didn't have the detection technology in place to give it a Stigma 1 rating and that is why it wasn't looked into further regarding their factilities. Even as we speak America still doesn't have the technology to reach a meaningful Stigma level on this experiment. but ofcourse, with CERN capable of conducting this test with a Stigma 5 capability, America (and Japan) will now be biulding detectors capable of producing equal levels of certainty in the results they gather.

It's funny that this is the first Stigma 5 test that is not widely accepted as correct in scientific community.
