I first bought my PS3 on launch day (60gb original). After a year took out Sony Continious Play cover, thank god i did.

Problem free gaming for a couple of years, up until november 2011 only had to have one PS3 replaced. Since Novemebr i have had 6 PS3 sytems, yes 6, all 60gb replacement, each console with a game stuck in it. So amongst other things Sony have 2 copies of MW3, and NFS The Run which could take up to 6 weeks to come back. After the last one had gone just last week i was so annoyed that i demanded an upgrade, which they agreed a new Slim 120gb, happy days.

5 days on from the upgrade, the Slim turned itself off this morning while playing GT5, *****. Looked it up online to find out that it could be a heating issue.

Is this true, becuase i want the facts before i go Ape Sh*t on Sony!!

Any advice would be great, and no i don't want an Xbox.

When my PlayStation got the YLOD, I sent it to get repaired but when it came back it only lasted for two weeks. You could get another refurbished PS3, or you could switch to Xbox (which is what I did).

I'm not sure what kind of help you were expecting. Of course it could be a heating issue, but it could be any number of other things too.  

You just have to keep getting it fixed/replaced or decide not to bother any more.

Was hoping for someone just to clarify what the reason is for my Slim to turn off.

Someone who knows what they are talking about and not maybe this or maybe that.

rather than get replacements from sony buy a new one, even the slim they sent you is probably a refurbished one.
I know it costs but in the long term is less likely to have problems and you get a year guarantee. The newer slims are 160 and 320, 120 is the first lot that came out.
