Depends on phone as far as im aware.

On the desire, just flashing a rom with the locked bootloader on it should return it normal, unless you have edited your partition table with alpha rev or s -off.

Generally on htc phones flashing official firmware unroots.

oh ok, well the phone is a desire. im just not happy with the instabilities i've found with the various roms, and i'd be happy to just return it back to stock.

i'll try to unroot it now, thanks for the advice =)

What roms have you tried?

Cyanogen mod is rock solid, if you can live without htc sense.

thats the thing, i've been living without sense for a while now, and i just find it tiresome. sense is just a nicer experience..

i've decided against unrooting my phone (mainly because i don't like the RUU's being an .exe file) so im currently downloading a pre rooted stock 2.2 froyo rom. everything is the same except its still rooted so it seems like the best of both worlds =)

Good idea. Root's always useful to have just for  those few app which require it.

Re: Android discussion thread.

I really like the look of the Optimus 3D, but I need a bit help. Is there any legitimate way to check if my Galaxy S is locked? It was bought on a monthly contract from Vodafone if this is any help. I just fancy selling my Galaxy S and put the money towards purchasing a sim free Optimus 3D, because I only just got this galaxy s before the influx of more advanced smart phones and I am a bit bummed by it.

Thanks everyone :smileyvery-happy:

Just stick a SIM from another network into it and see if it works!

Re: Android discussion thread.

Well I slammed in my pay as you go three sim card and everything went fine. It booted up fine and in the notification bar, it said 3. Just to check though, I phoned 4444 to see if I could get in contact with the three services to check my balance on that sim and that was all fine.

The only thing that got me was that it asked for authentication for my gmail account.

So am I right to assume that my phone is not locked?
