Re: Android discussion thread.

So has anyone read Samsung's reply regarding the pentile screen?

Apparently they used the pentile screen to increase longevity as the blue OLED degreades quicker.

Though that's true, I think it is some bs remark. However, if that truly is the main reason, kinda makes you wonder why they bothered putting that kind of technology into the S2.

Yeh but it's webOS which is effectively shuttered.

I've got CM9 on mine and for an alpha it's pretty good.

Its excellent. So much to do with it such as cornerstone e.t.c.
Apart from minor wifi bugs i think it works brilliantly

I just hope they get the mic and battery life sorted soon, hate having to boot back into WebOS for lectures.

Re: Android discussion thread.

Accidently discovered something today that has taken me almost a year to find. Not sure if it is a Samsung thing, an ICS thing or an android thing in general but here goes...

wait for it...

If you slide your finger horizontally along the top bar it changes the brightness :smileyvery-happy:

Everyone probably knows this but I thought it was cool.

I couldnt get that to work, the black bar you drag down?

if you put ics browser+ on, its the same as the standard browser, cept you can go into menu > Settings > advandced and in the Browser+ Settings you can change the user agent to "desktop" which means the rich text text box on this forum will work, and the desktop version of sites will load by default.

Seen as the browser is pretty good, nearly all sites work fine in desktop mode anyway so its well worth installing and turning on and using as the browser.

Judging from comments I've been reading on the web, people feel as though they were left wanting more.

I suppose this is the danger when you try to hype your product up to the high heavens.

9 million preorders for the s3 would indicate that no one was left wanting, They may just about have enough to meet orders when it drops and they are making 5 million a month.

Samsung are on fire at the moment, not only are they making huge profits, but they are also having amazing research, they made breakthroughs in graphene, oled, hdd and processors that means into the future technology wise they have nothing to worry about.

People critic for them stealing design ideas, they used their own design for the s3 and its probably going to be their biggest selling phone ever.

I think they pretty much shut every critic up with the release of one phone.

The sad news is, samsung used to share their research with others, but these days they probably wont, and now everyone will probably have to pay samsung to make super fast graphene phones.

Re: Android discussion thread.

Just read about that; hats off to Samsung it seems now that the Galaxy brand has gained a very impressive reputation.

I do agree with the design though. It clearly reeks of Samsung trying to show that they can be successful without having a phone design that looks similar to the iphone apparently leading to a ton full of lawsuits.

I do admit though, though I'm not really fussed about the phone itself, I would quite fancy a little play around on it and see how these proximity sensors work.

Re: Android discussion thread.

yeah, im not going to get an s3, i have a note and am in love with the notes form factor so its a no go, I also dont like the look of s3 in photos, I will admit though that their other pebel inspired stuff looks nicer in person.

With 9 million preorders though, its out of this world, i thought 4 million was amazing, 9 million is hard to get the head around.

It was brave of them, and shows yeah they sometimes take design cues from others but at the end of the day thats not why people are buying them, hopefully be brave enough to throw some more of their design talent into stuff, i think their tvs look good.
