Anyone a FLT driver?

Kind of some advice here. About 8 weeks ago I passed a FLT (Forklift driving) course. If I passed I had a guaranteed job waiting for me.

So today after weeks of hearing noting. The employer called me today and asked me to join a few other people for a induction tomorrow. The employer didn't give me much details other than just to get there at a certain time.

So what dose a induction mean? As this job involves me driving a forklift am not sure what am suppose to wear for this induction. Do I just wear normal clothes or a suit like you would for a interview?

I really don't know lol. So am wondering is anyone here who is a forklift driver here? Can you tell me what you did in your induction?

Re: Anyone a FLT driver?

An induction of that type would normally involve you getting training and a brief of where you'd be working, what the company is about, then probably a tour of wherever you're working and you getting to know how everything works there.

I'd go with wearing normal clothes.

Re: Anyone a FLT driver?

Could you not give them a call to see if there is a specific dress code for the induction day?

I imagine that you will be expected to wear whatever you would wear on a normal working day.

I used to work in a plant, left because of the stigma attached to it...

Re: Anyone a FLT driver?

I had to wear my suit to day :smileyvery-happy: for my formal interview with my army recruiter.

Feel like a boss wearing it. Just need a fedora hat and a .357 magnum strapped to the left of my chest and I'd feel like a 1950's NY mafia caporegime

Re: Anyone a FLT driver?

If I were you I'd wear a tuxedo, just to be safe.

I would rather be known as a classy so and so, than the alternative.

I drove a FLT for a few years, my course was in Denmark, but I am sure its pretty much an EU standard, my certificate can be transferred to england if I ever want to move back at least :smileyhappy: So it probably is an EU thing

What I did was we learnt about the different types of trucks, electric, diesel trucks, the motors, what you have to look out for on each. How the actual lifting system works (For lack of better name), safety, common sense, and we had several hours in each truck, both indoors and outdoors... Electric indoors of course...

The reach truck was the truck I hated most... lol

The 2 days there was a theory test and an practical test, and finally giving us our certificates.

If its anything like what I went on then you have NOTHING to worry about... It was actually alot of fun :smileyhappy:

It took 9 days for my course I think.. Don't know if its the same in the UK...
