Apple Macbook Pro Purchasing Advice

hi guys, i'm looking to buy the new macbook pro 13' and i'm lookin for a bit of advice. not the "buy a pc" kind of advice, but advice on future proofing etc. I want the 13' as opposed to the 15' as i had a 15' laptop before and dont feel i need one as big anymore

basically i'm looking at the 13' and am torn between the i5 and i7 versions for €1168 and €1439 respectively. when i configure the i5 to have the same other specs as the i7, (hdd space and ram), it comes to €1348 so its €90 for the faster processor. i'm wondering do you feel the faster processor is worth it or are the forced upgrades (larger hdd and 2x4GB of ram) in order to have the i7 processor not worth it?

i'll be programming and and webdesigning and photoshoppin etc on it, it wont be used just to surf the web.

anyone who has purchased this years macbook pros or anyone that can advise me would be great thanks.

I have the i7 15' Macbook Pro from 2011 and works great. I did some coding with Xcode and it handled it all very smoothly.

My advice would be to go into store and ask them. I asked them should I go for the 17' with the added graphics or just stick with the cheaper 15' and after a brief chat regarding my uses they said I should just go for the 15' because the 17' had too much power for what I wanted to use it for.

Though considering you are photoshopping and designing, I would be more inclined to lean towards the i7 personally.

Are you going to be working with alot of high-resolution pictures in Photoshop? If so then go with the i7.

Re: Apple Macbook Pro Purchasing Advice

I got a 15" i7 (2.2 GHz) with 4GB ram back in April, and use It for web design, its a beast and can handle anything. The latest upgrade (Mid-2012) doesnt let you manually add ram, so if you wanted you could try and secure a early 2012 model and reconfigure if you wanted to/needed to
