Yes I'm proud of being British.
I know being patriotic in Britain is frowned upon these days, especially as often it is associated with the likes of BNP or that sorta thing.
We don't like to flaunt it like the Yanks who sing their national anthem every day at school assembly and we don't fly the Union flags outside all our houses. This perhaps is a good thing though.
I just appreciate the country I was born in, and yes I know the country has bad habits and done some bad things, but it's got an amazing varied and interesting history and has given the world we all now live in so much, it's hard not to admire the achievements this island has done and feel some sense of pride.
There is a lot wrong with Great Britain at the moment, no one can deny that, however there is also a lot right with it too.
Yes it seems Great Britain is still nursing a hangover from the speed of the empire collapsing but regardless the effects of the empire can still be seen today. Which also has good and bad points in itself, but generally, I think it's been one of the better empires. It hasn't been that evil, well compared to other empires anyway. Although we did invent the concentration camps
Sorry about that Boers.
Some people say it's not the Britain it used to be but let's be honest, we have always been full of a variety of nationalities living here and we have also always been as Napoleon once said "A nation of shopkeepers".
I know other nations may have a better way of life, be less crowded and generally easier going but I appreciate what I got and it's a part of me. It's a part of me on many levels and the British culture seeps right through to my bones. From the unwritten rule of the invisible queue whilst waiting at the bar (which yanks still to this day just don't get right) to the extreme awkward way of saying hello\goodbye to everyone. The humour, the accents, the way of life. We may not be that fancy and we may be a bit rough and sometimes the scum of the world but it's what has made this nation as it is.
I'm not only British because of the Olympics or English when the World cup comes around. I am British. I will always be British. Even when riots break out or when Jack the Ripper returns, I will still be British and I will still be proud of the group of nations on this lil island has done and no doubt will do in the future.

I'd much rather to be American or Canadian.
Why?
Better life, better culture and better people (especially Canada). Over there seems to be much more vibrant than here.
Oh yeah, very funny.
You mad?

This island is a sinking ship.
It sent a message to the world that it was a land full of promise, so everyone else wanted a piece of the pie - but now they're all aboard, the island is straining under the weight of it.
All downhill from here I'm afraid.
