Like I just said "I may or may not support" - of which my opinions on the matter will never truely be voiced.

ok, i might start doing that, commenting on threads online about opinions and never voicing my own, sounds fun.
are you afraid?

Yeah you should try it some time, it helps you get less caught up in arguments which are caused by some people on this forum who thrive in such a way.

I've taken a look into this (mostly because I wasn't sure what a buzzard looked like and the only time I've seen a Pheasant is when I've almost hit one of the buggers or someone else has killed one on the road) and apparently they only want to increase the amount of hiding area and remove empty nests and junk. Culling isn't being planned.
And yes, looking at it Buzzards are evil. They're hunters (wikipedia says they're flipping Raptors, like out of Jurassic Park!). They're going after the little baby Pheasants, not the moronic ones who run out into the road. Perhaps this is the Tories plan to start a re-education of the Pheasants. They stop them from being killed at an early age and then create schools for them so they can learn about the dangers of roads and guns and stuff. Before you know it they'll be fine upstanding members of (bird) society. Or they'll still be Pheasants.
Plan to keep everyone happy. Stick Pheasants in one cordonned off area of land for hunting and whatever. Bring the Buzzards to London/another pigeon infested city/town/generic populated area. Pheasants get to live out their lives away from the fear of scary metal boxes on wheels. Buzzards get more food (and what's more fun to hunt, a fat waddling baby Pheasant, or a Pigeon?) and us mere humans get less bird crap (and parts) on our cars.

That doesn't mean they're evil. Just animals looking for a catch.
Just because their prey are the nice cute animals doesn't mean they're any worse than any other predator out there... Like humans.

Neither are some people who post here but that doesn't mean we should go around shooting them.
Cheers for the compliment, but my reply was open, I was just stating an opinion of mine which did not actually mean that I agree with "going around shooting them".
So what was your comment intended to mean then, in a thread about shooting pheasants?
Just bringing a point to the argument, which may or may not mean I support it.
Or 'hollow rhetoric' as it's commonly known.
Either way, by implication you have suggested that you agree with pheasants being shot because they aren't very intelligent. Better to state than to allow others to infer I'd say.

Cute? We are talking about Pheasants here aren't we? Firstly, nothing with a beak is cute. Beak=Evil.
Secondly, going to the assumption that their young, which is apparently the main target for the Buzzards, are the cute ones of which you speak. They then turn into fat stupid useless birds who find it fun to waddle in front of a car doing 60 down a country road. Sure, Buzzards controlling the young population means less old ones on the road, but imagine seeing a Buzzard or two chasing down a pigeon, zooming around the tourists at Tralafalgar Square. Taking up a perch on Nelson's Column. Wouldn't that be more fun than, quite frankly, a boring simple assault on a baby Pheasant that the parents are probably too stupid to defend against?

It still does not mean they're evil.
Dogs, cats, lions, ducks, horses, humans, dolphins, whales. We all do it, even if it means picking the easy targets to make it easier and safer for ourselves. Nature isn't nice, but that doesn't mean it's evil.

Yes it does. You missed my point which was that Beaks=Evil. Mentioning a few animals that don't have beaks but are still evil won't win you the argument. Think of it like this. You are sat at a train station platform. It's one of those proper seats that you can sit down on. Suddenly out of the corner of your eye you see a bird (of whatever type you want, perhaps even a Pheasant) wandering over to your seat and going under it. Now are you think "Blimey that was a cute specimen os the [insert latin word here] genus" or are you thinking "That thing is definitely going to start pecking at my heels any second now". Of those creatures you mentioned above, which would you be comfortable with under your train station seat? That is, of course, ignoring the fact that the occasions when dolphins and whales are going to be appearing under our train seats are going to thankfully be very rare.
And what do Horses hunt? Scarecrows?
