At approximately 18:10 this evening people across a large part of England flooded emergency service phone lines reporting the sound of a loud explosion that filled the space around them everywhere. The phone calls were coming in from as high as the Midlands down to Oxfordshire.... thats a pretty darn big area. 

The Ministry of Defence has said it was the sonic boom of a Typhoon which was repsonding to an emergency created by a helicopter broadcasting on the wrong frequency.

The only problem is... the phone calls came from all affected areas at the same time. Didn't realise that sound and Typhoons travelled at Mach Twenty Four.

UPDATE: The BGS are now saying there was an earthquake of 3.6 in the midlands area at 18:06, 4 minutes before the reported so called Typhoon sonic boom.
