China is trying to hack me

So I put fake details into a phishing website thats looking for santander customer info, Joke type stuff to see what happens.

At the end it said "success" and sent me to santander logged out.

But now Im getting a lot of fingering from china, and they is probing my ports..

Coincidence? what should I do?

Boycott all the local chinese take aways, maybe even stand outside the window shaking your fist, they'll soon get the message. Stay strong.

Re: China is trying to hack me

Serves you right tbh.

You shouldn't have given the hacker false hope, he probably thought he had got someone. Photobucket

Re: China is trying to hack me

Start wearing a false moustache or draw one on if you don't have one, change your name to something they can't pronounce easily or burn your house down and move.

Purely as an aside, you do realise that some people pay alot of money to be fingered by Asians, don't you?

I'd turn of my Router for 5mins and let the IP restart its self. He'll lose you then.

[ Edited ]

You had to provoke them to get probed?

I get thousands of intrusion attempts to my servers each week. A few years ago, a lot of them came from various servers around the world, then they started coming from botnets, but for the past few months, they are coming directly from various .cn-addresses.

Back in the days, I used to go through the whole procedure of whois'ing, and trying to track down the network/server owners, and send them an email with a detailed abuse report. I'd estimate that 1 in 20 or so replied at all, a few replied "Thanks, it turned out we had a zombie server.". But it started turning into a multi-hour-per-day job, so I eventually just gave up on it.

I have written a firewall and authentication monitoring system (it's what generates the reports I used to send to network owners). A friend of mine suggested that instead of the logs simply going to waste, I should translate the output so I could automatically submit them to one of the larger online abuse-lists. I never got that far, but I've been told it's the social thing to do.

For future reference: Don't play around with phishing sites. Even if you're not so stupid that you accidentially leak any information to them, you can - as you may have noticed - gain unwanted attention. Though it may just be coincidence; some of my servers are very discrete, but they still get lots of intrusion attempts.
